What is Student Council?
What is Student Council? Student Council is a group of students who work together to make HJH a better school. We may meet after school for some activities. STUCO runs the concession stand for volleyball; basketball and some wrestling meets, so there are evenings to work also. Students should be prepared to participate.
What do members do? Dances: The first dance is in October and there is another dance in the winter. We decorate, run concessions, and clean up after the dance.
Assemblies: We plan pep assemblies, Fun Friday and No HOT Sheet quarterly incentives.
Contests: We sponsor the annual penny drive and other contests.
Concessions: We run the concession stand for all home volleyball, basketball and wrestling meets.
Red Ribbon Week: We plan Red Ribbon activities and ten students attend training in October to help plan our Red Ribbon Activities.
Spirit Week: We plan activities for Spirit Week
Expectations Student Council members are expected to maintain at least a C average in their classes. Students will be placed on probation if their grades drop. Students must show good conduct at school and school activities. Receiving one or more Zero Hour will have a conference with the Advisor to determine ways to show improvement in behavior or habits. OSS or ISS will result in a conference and possibly dropped from the class at the discretion of the advisor. Students on probation for academic or behavior may not participate in any activities that take place during school hours.
