What others are saying
Cultivating leadership in all students by encouraging them to discover their unique personalities and giftedness and helping them pursue lives of service to their communities and beyond.
Archie Manning Former NFL Quarterback I believe it is increasingly important for young men and women to learn great leadership skills. Leadership is one of the most essential traits for an NFL quarterback to possess. As a father, I have stressed its importance with all of our boys. I endorse the GLI, because I am confident it will prepare Prep students to make a significant difference in the world. If our three boys were in high school today, Olivia and I would want Cooper, Eli, and Peyton to participate in this vital program.
T
he Global Leadership Institute sponsors four leadership forums during each school year as well as an opportunity for international travel.
The Student Insight Forums

DUANE DEWEY Chairman of the Global Leadership Institute Advisory Board
These forums address negative issues prevalent in modern youth culture. Each forum is designed to give Prep students insight on a specific teen issue. The goal is to help students make better-informed decisions on issues that affect their lives every day.
The Parent Insight Forums
These forums give parents of Prep students muchneeded information on tough teenage issues. Experts equip parents to adequately support and encourage their student in the midst of an everchanging youth culture.
The GLI is an amazing program that adds to an already-amazing school. As a parent of three Prep graduates, I couldn’t be more excited about this program. Having served on the Prep Board of Trustees, I feel this program differentiates Prep from other schools in the community in a very dramatic and important way. With the challenges we face in our communities across this country, I can’t think of a more important program than preparing our future leaders.
The Grade Level Forums
These forums highlight great leaders in business, athletics, education, community service, medicine, law, and religion. The Forums encourage students to begin to think about their career choices and how they will make a difference in the world.

PREParing students for
real life and service one grade at a time...
7th | Potential
9th | Preparation
11th | Philanthropy
The seventh grade initiative involves classroom instruction for every student. The curriculum includes valuing healthy self-esteem, appreciating his or her own uniqueness, celebrating family support through parent/student affirmations, studying the lives of great leaders throughout history, and developing habits to propel each student to reach his or her ultimate potential.
The freshman year is a strategic time to prepare students for high school. On the day-long ninth grade leadership retreat, each student is challenged to reflect on his or her purpose, passions, and talents under the motivation of professional speakers. The retreat culminates with a parent/student meeting on campus. Ninth graders will also participate in gender-focused forums throughout the year.
The eleventh grade program gives juniors an opportunity to impact their world by committing to help needy people in our community or the world at large. The students design their own philanthropic endeavors and work with classmates to make a positive and significant difference somewhere for someone during their junior year. The projects are shared and celebrated throughout the year.
8th | Personality
10th | People
12th | Purpose
Eighth graders participate in a leadership retreat and specialized forums during the school year. The eighth grade curriculum highlights the strengths of the four personality types through creative instruction and interactive activities. The leadership venues give each student an opportunity to explore and understand his or her own personality and begin to envision his or her role as an effective leader.
The tenth grade program connects each student with an adult leader who will serve as a personal and/or professional mentor. The adult mentor is encouraged to develop a relationship with his or her mentee throughout the entire high school experience. The program provides various events on campus to help each adult mentor maintain a meaningful relationship with his or her mentee.
Senior Empowerment luncheons are offered periodically throughout the year. During these events, students discuss their talents and God-given strengths to know better how to lead with vision, integrity, compassion, and humility.
GLI Mentee/Mentor Celebrations
Q&A with Global Leadership Institute Director, Dr. Cindy Townsend How and when did the GLOBAL LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE begin? The Global Leadership Institute was established in the Fall of 2008. It was the vision of the Head of School, Susan Lindsay, and the Board of Trustees. As Director, I was asked to create the curriculum and program for students in grades 7-12. The unique curriculum was designed to meet the needs of Prep students. What makes the GLI special? The GLI is the first of its kind in the state of Mississippi. Through the GLI, Prep has stepped GLI 9th Grade Retreat
forward to provide students with an innovative program to enhance their personal development and leadership skills. If THE GLI had a motto, what would it be? “Every Student – A Leader!” What is the goal of the GLI? To graduate world-class leaders who excel in academics and demonstrate integrity, vision, and compassion.
