Florida is a unique place, with both freshwater and saltwater environments. We depend on our coastal waters for recreation (such as fishing, boating, swimming and surfing) and for economic reasons (such as commercial fishing and eco tours). Wildlife who live in coastal waterways depend on them for nursery areas and food. We can all help make this a brighter picture by doing our part to protect Florida’s waterways.

This activity sheet is based on one that was originally developed by the Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program with assistance from students in the 4th grade gifted class at Gemini Elementary School.
