INTRODUCTION When the Moon Fell In Love is a silent comic strip based on the poem Tonight I Can Write the Saddest Lines of Pablo Neruda, published as a final requirement for the course World Literature. The comic strip follows the story of how a boy meets a girl, loves her, betrayed to another and loses her forever. The comics is considered as a drama, added with a little tragedy, as it follows through the emotions conveyed in the Pablo Neruda poem and Edgar Allan Poe's Annabel Lee and the film 500 Days of Summer. The comic book When the Moon Fell In Love would have been impossible to achieve without the tireless team behind it. After numerous brain storming sessions, the group had decided on using the Neruda poem, using photography instead of freehand drawing and appointing its members their various tasks. Storytelling and photography fell upon Arianne Escaro, while the art and layout were assigned to Daryl Dela Cruz and Roy Bataque. Daryl transformed the tedious photographs into true comic book style and created the cover. Roy did the freehand sketching on the imagery (the full moon) and the scene impossible to photograph (The Kiss). Harold Sabanal provided the invaluable talent as the leading role of the comics strip. Sheinny Padua proved irreplaceable not only as the love interest of the lead but also as the equipment and location manager. Though he portrayed a the other man in the strip, Red Gabanan is a genuinely good leader who was directed the photo editing and provided the materials for the final print out. The title When the Moon Fell In Love came from a Panic! At The Disco song When the Day Met the Night. The song is about how golden the sky became in the summer because the moon feel in love with the sun. Likewise, the comic strip shows how happy the boy is when he is with his love, the summer of his life. When he lost her to another boy, he thought that it is the worst thing that can happen. He never thought it will only get worse from there on. After all, autumn starts the winter. 2
