Where did we come from? God created us good. We now have a sinful nature because Adam, the representative of the human race, disobeyed God. Why are we here? We are here to love and honour God. We were created to have fellowship with God. This fellowship has been broken, but Jesus, through His death and resurrection (one of the clearest facts of history), has “paved the way” back to God. Where are we going? The Bible says “It is appointed to man once to die and after that the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). God will judge our lives according to His moral standard: His law. If we reject or ignore Jesus, we will spend eternity in the torments of hell. However, if we receive the righteousness of Jesus Christ , we will spend eternity with God our Creator! We urge you to pray to God asking Him for salvation in Jesus Christ.
Where do we come from? Why are we here? Where are we going?
If you wish to learn more about these three questions, read your Bible. It is vitally important that you read God’s Word because it is the truth. What you do with the truth of God’s Word has eternal consequences.
God has given us the answers to these questions in His Word, the Bible. God is the Eternal One and we cannot see Him because the Bible says, “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth” (John 4:24). God is our Creator. The Bible says: “In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. . . God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good” (Genesis 1:1, 31). God is also our Sustainer. The Bible says, “in Him we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28). God constantly maintains all the fundamental forces in the universe, such as gravity. God is holy. He is the moral standard: He defines right and wrong. The Bible tells us these standards. For example, Jesus once said “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. You shall love your neighbour as yourself” (Matthew 22:37-39). Do we obey these commandments? No! The Bible says “ All have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Rom 3:23)
God created people to have fellowship with Him. Adam and Eve, the first two people, ruined that fellowship when they chose to disobey God in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3). This is why we always break God’s standard; we sin. God’s justice requires that we pay a penalty for our sin. As a result we are all doomed to die and go to hell. Amazingly however, God has planned a way to bring us back to Him. God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God the Son came to earth and lived among us as a man: Jesus. Jesus came to die for sin. The Bible says, “He Who knew no sin became sin for us” (2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus Himself said, “I lay down My life …. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself”(John 10:17-18). The Bible says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). Jesus said, “He who believes in me shall live” (John 11:25). Through Jesus, our sins can be forgiven, and we can again have fellowship with God our Creator.
