WHETSTONE VALLEY YOUTH FOOTBALL COACHES CREED WVYF focuses on football fundamentals and fun through a spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship… … not winning games. All Coaches are expected to be positive role models and have a high standard to live up to at each practice and on every game day. No coach shall use profanity or make derogatory remarks or gestures to a referee, parent official, player, parent, or spectator. A coach may never strike, shake, push, or otherwise physically assault a player or volunteer. A coach has the responsibility to ensure that all youth participants receive fair playing time during games to the best of their ability. I, _____________________________________ promise to do my best to help each child entrusted in my care to develop both mentally as well as physically. I promise to remember that we play for fun and that all children involved in our program must get a fair chance to participate. I realize that part of a coach’s responsibility is to produce winners, but that winning comes secondary to all children getting a chance to play and all children having fun. I understand that this is not an adult league but a league formed for the children in the community, for their enjoyment, and I will do my best to see that the children enjoy participating in our program. As a coach for Whetstone Valley Youth Football, I hereby pledge to provide positive support, care and encouragement for the players I coach while they participate in the WVYF program by following this Coaches Creed:  I will place the emotional and physical well being of the players ahead of my personal desire to win.  I will do my best to provide a safe environment for the players in practice and during games.  I will lead by example in demonstrating fair play and sportsmanship to all players, other coaches and spectators.  I will be knowledgeable in the rules of the league, and I will teach these rules.  I will use those coaching techniques appropriate for the skills that I teach.  I will remember that I am a youth sports coach, and that the game is for the children.  I will never use alcoholic beverages before or during a practice, game, or any other function related to WVYF.  I will never use tobacco products during a practice, game, or any other function related to WVYF.  I will do my best to maintain good communication with my team’s parents and I will address all parental complaints to the best of my ability and present all parental complaints to the WVYF board when they occur.
