Wilderness Escape VBS
Wilderness Escape Vacation Bible School is coming soon! It is scheduled for July 21-24 from 5:30—8 p.m. Register in the Narthex or online at FirstChristianChurch.org. Kids’ VBS t-shirts will be available for everyone who pre-registers! How can you help with VBS? We need packaged, store-bought cookies for each night. Donations may be placed in the box in the church kitchen labeled, “VBS Cookies.” We also need to borrow items to be used for decorating our Wilderness Escape! We need the following: blankets, beach towels, pillows and rugs in striped or braided patterns, silk plants, woven baskets, "desert" themed stuffed animals (camels, lizards, snakes, etc.), ceramic or Terra Cotta vases or water jars, extra large cardboard boxes (large enough for a child to crawl through), LED operated candles. If you can lend an item, attach the appropriate camel to it and deliver it to the church office by Sunday, July 13. If you would like to help decorate for VBS, we will have projects available to work on during the week of June 14 - 18. Come down anytime from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. and check the table in the Narthex for items that need completed. We will also be decorating on Saturday, July 19 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Please see Angie Lewis for more information.
Operation Kid-to-Kid Mission Project
Imagine walking several miles each day to get water for your family. Imagine that the water you finally get is filled with mud and parasites. This is an accurate picture of the every day reality for nearly a billion people around the world. As part of Wilderness Escape VBS, our church will participate in an Operation Kid-to-Kid international mission project that allows us to provide clean drinking water for children in India. For just $2.50 (10 quarters!), a child in India can have clean water for a year at school, including a clean bathroom and place to wash hands. Would you like to participate in this exciting mission project? Our VBS kids who bring a donation get to throw a balloon into a giant inflatable drinking glass, and we hope that the glass is full to overflowing by the end of the week! Consider giving just 10 quarters to a VBS child so that he or she can make a donation on your behalf. Thank you for your generosity!
