Why Join Cub Scouts? In a study conducted at Tufts University, nearly 1,800 Cub Scouts and 400 non-Scouts in the Philadelphia area were surveyed to analyze the effects of Scouting. Over the course of five surveys in just under three years, gains were seen in six critical areas. Check out some of the major discoveries!

Your family time is very valuable! Much of Scouting isn’t just about the Scout; it’s about the whole family. Cub Scouting helps support your family by providing ready-made opportunities for you and your son to do things together. Scouting teaches family values and works to strengthen your relationship with your son. The adventures of Scouting can add value to the time you already have with your son, and many adventures are open to the whole family - brothers, sisters, cousins, and more. Scouting also lets parents be kids again!

What Do Cub Scouts Do? Scouts go on field trips to tons of cool places in the community! We go hiking, fishing, swimming, and exploring. Our Scouts love to be outdoors, and camping with Cub Scouts is a favorite pastime! At our meetings we may make a craft or visit the fire department or police station. Scouts also help others in need and make new friends along the way. Of course, who could forget racing? We race cars in our Pinewood Derby and boats in our Raingutter Regatta.

What Do Cub Scouts Learn? Cub Scouts learn how to be future leaders. They also build confidence and selfesteem. Most importantly, Scouts learn ideals they can apply to everyday life, such as Trustworthiness, Loyalty, Helpfulness, Cheerfulness, and Obedience. Scouting can help boys explore new things. They can learn new games or hobbies, or they may be introduced to a new career field. Their rank may challenge them to develop a new skill or build on what they’ve learned. The possibilities are endless!
