Why We Believe What We Believe About The
Galatians 5:22 – 23
1. He Provides Inspiration Through The Word • 2 Peter 1:20-21, “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, 21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” • 2 Timothy 1:6-7, “Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
2. He Produces The Fruit Of The Spirit • Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, selfcontrol. Against such there is no law.” • Luke 8:15, “But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.” • Psalm 51:11, “Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.”
3. He Participates In Our Prayers • Romans 8:26, “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groaning’s which cannot be uttered.” • Romans 8:27, “Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” • Romans 8:28, “For we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
Poem by Eliza M. Hickok • “I know not by what method rare But this I know, God answers prayer. I know that he has given his Word Which tells me prayer is always heard And will be answered soon or late And so I pray and calmly wait. I know not if the blessing sought Will come in just the way I thought But leave my prayers with him alone Whose will is wiser than my own Assured that he will grant my quest Or send some answer far more blessed.”
