WICHITA 2015 The Wine Opener is a national wine tasting series to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Locally, The Wichita Wine Opener will be held from 7 to 9:00 p.m. (VIP 6pm early entry) on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Century II Performing Arts & Convention Center, 225 W. Douglas. The Wichita Wine Opener is a relaxed, yet lively, evening for 400-450 expected guests. From wine novices to advanced wine enthusiasts, The Wine Opener is a casual and fun evening for all experience levels! SIP GREAT WINES poured by international and domestic wineries. SAVOR GREAT CUISINE presented at festive tasting stations, where the area's hottest chefs prepare their specialties just for you. Demographics The Wine Opener targets professionals and couples between the ages of 25 and 60 years old. Event Exposure The event appeals to wine novices looking for a casual and fun environment to taste wines, as well as, young professionals looking for an inexpensive night on the town with friends and co-workers. Wine connoisseurs also are encouraged to attend. The Wine Opener was created by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to raise funds that will support the Foundation’s mission to find a cure for CF. IMPORTANT NOTE ON ATTENDANCE AT FOUNDATION EVENTS: To reduce the risk of getting and spreading germs at CF Foundation-sponsored events, we ask that everyone follow basic best practices by regularly cleaning your hands with soap and water or with an alcoholbased hand gel, covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your inner elbow and maintaining a safe 6 -foot distance from anyone with a cold or infection. Medical evidence shows that germs may spread among people with CF through direct and indirect contact, as well as through droplets that travel short distances when a person coughs or sneezes. These germs can lead to worsening symptoms and speed decline in lung function. To further help reduce the risk of cross-infection, the Foundation’s attendance policy recommends inviting only one person with CF to an indoor Foundation-sponsored event at a specific time. ___________________________________________________________ The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has unrestricted financial reserves of about 15 times its budgeted annual expenses, following a one-time royalty sale in 2014. These funds, along with the public’s continuing support, are needed to help accelerate our efforts to pursue a lifelong cure for this fatal disease, develop lifesaving new therapies and help all people with CF live full, productive lives.
