Who We Are The Wildland Fire Division is comprised of 7 to 10 members. Experienced in firefighting, fire education and community wildfire planning. What We Do The Wildland Fire Division responds to all 911 calls with its main specialization being wildfire suppression and prevention. Our goal is to make the mountain communities of Rocky Mountain Fire District more defensible to the threat of wildfire while promoting forest health and providing wildfire education to our district residents.

Please See Back For More Details About The Mitigation Process.

What Do We Do With The Vegetation Debris? Chipping Broadcast- Used where there is a large area away from the structure to disperse chips. Using this method wood chips are dispersed evenly throughout the property, ensuring minimal impact on surrounding grasses and vegetation. Haul Away- Used in areas where there is limited space to disperse chips on the property. In some situations a trash dumpster may be used i.e. within 100ft of all structures.

Pile Burning We will make a limited amount of burn piles in areas where it is difficult to move slash to an area where it can be chipped or hauled away. Our goal is to make no more piles than we are able to burn by the following summer. Rocky Mountain Fire District Community Hazard Rating Map
