Willamette Valley Babe Ruth Coaches Agreement During the course of a game; a coach, player or parent will not be allowed to approach an umpire for the purpose of disputing a judgment call or decision. A Head Coach may approach an umpire for the purpose of discussing a rule interpretation for clarification on a call. At all times, the Head Coach will show respect to the umpire and maintain his obligation as the Team leader to provide an example of good sportsmanship for the players and other event participants. No coach, parent, or event participant will be allowed to shout abusive or disrespectful remarks criticizing a player, coach, or umpires performance or judgment. Umpires will handle unsportsmanlike behavior in accordance with Competition/Sportsmanship Committee Guidelines. WVBR Recognizes that errors and poor decisions are a part of the game and that it is important that the participants are provided an environment where they can succeed and be free from the fear of public ridicule and embarrassment. The coaches are obligated to provide an example of control over their emotions and speech. These behavior standards are to be maintained before, during, and after games, as well as at any sanctioned league functions. Safety: As a WVBR Coach, I will require and demand safe playing conditions. I understand that it is my responsibility to furnish a complete first aid kit, as provided by the local area, at all practices and games. I additionally understand that the well being of the players is paramount. I will error on the safe side in any issue regarding health and injury. Financial: I understand the financial needs of the team. I will not obligate the team or league financially without prior approval from the WVBR Board of Directors or the Area Director. I may spend my own funds and apply for reimbursement. That reimbursement is subject to the expense being appropriate, documented, and adequate funds being available in the Area Account. I will be personally responsible for unauthorized expenditures. Certification: I agree that I will satisfy all relevant requirements of Babe Ruth Baseball and/or Cal Ripken Baseball in terms of completing educational courses and certification procedures prior to coaching any WVBR team. Non-Compete: I agree that I will not form a non-WVBR team or recruit for a non-WVBR team during the WVBR season. If I do so, I understand that I will not be allowed to coach for WVBR in the future.
