Be Extraordinary FRIDAY NEWSLETTER: 16th October Dear Parents/Carers, This week has been another busy and exciting week here at Wilshere-Dacre! On Tuesday, the whole school had an inspiring Assembly from local Creative Writer, Clare Sulch. Year 5 and 6 then had creative workshops to help give them new ideas for writing. On Wednesday, the whole school enjoyed a healthy lifestyle workshop in the hall. This gave the children opportunities to learn about ways of keeping themselves healthy through practical activities. Harvest Festival yesterday was also very enjoyable with the children singing, dancing and a visit from Rev Jane from St Marks. Mrs Sarah Smith Head of School

FOOTBALL TEAM SUCCESS

TWITTER

On Thursday 15th October WilshereDacre hosted the Hitchin and District schools cup, with schools coming from all over the district. The day started with a bang and a 2-1 victory over Highover, after they had pulled the game back to 1-1, a determined Wilshere-Dacre team managed to score a winner midway through the second half and hold on. Our second game was a hard fought and undeserved 1-0 loss to an incredibly strong William Ransom side. An incredible show of team work and skill, and some extraordinary last man defending towards the end, meant our last game finished 0-0 meaning we qualified from our group. Despite great football from both teams, and a mix of great chances and even greater saves in both boxes, Wilshere-Dacre were finally knocked out by the eventual winners of the tournament Whitehill at the semi-final stage. The day was excellently supported by parents, fellow pupils and staff from the school and every boy who represented Wilshere-Dacre Junior Academy did themselves and all of those watching extremely proud.
