Happy New Year Hello 2017, Goodbye 2016. Hard to believe the year has ended. Time to look ahead to new classes and three Quilt Retreats to choose from (or like some, choose all). March Retreat, March 24, 25, 26, 2017. Bring new life to all those quilting projects. October Retreat, October 20, 21, 22, 2017 is new for all those quilters unable to attend the November Retreat, November 10, 11, 12, 2017, or for the ones not wanting to miss Remembrance Day, which seems to fall on the retreat weekend. The November Retreat is for those quilters who hold that weekend free year after year. Sign up soon, don’t be disappointed. A look ahead to all the exciting happenings. Starting, Saturday, February 4th, 2017, 10:00 am—11:00 am. $30.00 per month.

Tweets & Twinkles Block of the Month, second Saturday of the month, starting February 11th, 2017. Available as cotton on cotton for $22.00 per month, cotton on wool for $30.00 per month or w ool on w ool for $34.00 per month.

Classes Winter 2017 Note: all classes require that you bring a sewing machine with all accessories, rotary cutter and rulers, neutral thread, scissors, pins and any other tools you may need. If you don’t have sewing machine, please speak with Karen.
Rock Candy Table Topper This popular table topper is back . again. Use the Sidekick ruler to assemble most of this project in one afternoon. Make one for every season– Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, etc. Supplies needed: 1/2 metre for background and binding, 2 1/2 inch strips. Friday, January 27th, 1:00 pm—4:00 pm $20.00. Quilt-as-you-go Modern Quilt Learn a new technique and make a modern quilt with fabric scraps. This would make a special gift for child or young adult. Supplies needed: walking foot for your sewing machine, scissors, neutral thread, 10 1/2 inch batting squares, fabric strips. Saturday, February 4th, 2017 10:00 am—3:00 pm. Bring your lunch. $40.00.

The Cat’s Cradle Ruler and Book Make 4 blocks from the book “Deb’s Cat’s n’ Quilts” and the Cat’s Cradle Ruler. Turn these blocks into a table runner or make a lap quilt… to use up scraps or for a gift project. Supplies needed: Book, ruler, scraps of light, medium and dark in fat quarters or 1/2 metre sizes. Friday, February 10th, 2017, 1:00 pm—4:00 pm. $20.00, plus supplies. Vintage Linens Have you ever wondered what to do with your Grandmother’s old linens that you don’t want to get rid of, but have no use for? Well, we have the answer for you! If you are fairly comfortable with free motion quilting, we will show you how to preserve and showcase them, in 2 classes. Class 1, pick material and designs, Saturday, February 18th, 2017 1:00 pm– 4:00 pm. Class 2, quilt, Saturday, February 25th, 2017 1:00 pm—4:00 pm. $25.00. Strippy Stars Do you like Star Quilts? Join us to learn how to make 5 different star blocks using the Strippy Star ruler. These blocks can be used to make table runners, quilts with the block or combinations. Supplies needed: Strippy Stars book and ruler, fat quarters and strips in light, medium and dark fabric. Friday, February 24th, 2017, 1:00 pm—4:00 pm. $20.00, plus supplies. Mariner’s Compass Paper Piecing Learn how to paper piece a Mariner’s Compass wall hanging. This technique can be used to make all the quilts that are so popular in Quilt Shows. The Mariner’s Compass will inspire you to try more. Supplies needed: at least 1/2 metre of a light background and 3 fat quarters in colours of your choice. Saturday, March 4th, 2017, 10:00 am—3:00 pm. Bring your lunch. $40.00
Ironing Board Cover Make a small ironing board for the upcoming retreat at Glen House. Kits will be available. You should be able to finish the project in one afternoon. Friday, March 10th, 2017, 1:00 pm—4:00 pm. $20.00
