JOHNSON CREEK FALL / WINTER RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES The following are a preview of upcoming events offered through the Johnson Creek Recreation Department Phone: (920) 541-4788 Email: [email protected] Website: http://www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=johnsoncreekjointrecreation SHOPPING Chicago’s Magnificent Mile Shopping Trip: Enjoy a fun filled day of shopping surrounded by colorful holiday decorations that line the streets of Chicago. The eight block stretch of downtown North Michigan Avenue is Chicago’s premier shopping destination. Participants will travel by charter bus down to historic Michigan Avenue where one will be sure to find that perfect gift for loved ones. NEW this year we will be adjusting our departure times to allow travelers to participate in the Lights Festival celebration, including a parade, holiday deals and more. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The Charter bus will depart from Lake Mills Middle School (Campus Field) Parking lot off of Church St. in Lake Mills. The bus will leave promptly at 10:00 am so please arrive 15 minutes early. This program is a co-op with Lake Mills Recreation Department. Participant Maximum 30: Registration Deadline: November 8 Day/Date: Saturday, November 18 Time: 10:00 am - 10:00 pm Fee: $37/R; $47/NR ARCHERY The Johnson Creek Recreation Department in conjunction with the Watertown Park & Recreation Department and the Tom Theder Memorial, and Watertown Archery Club, offers instruction in archery for boys and girls ages 8 and up. Equipment is provided by the Watertown Archery Club. Winter registration begins in December and classes begin in January. Spring registration begins in February and classes begin in March. Class participation is limited. OPEN GYM The Recreation Department sponsors open basketball for adults at the high school. Wednesday evening play and Sunday afternoon play begins in November. This is a FREE program

open to all adults interested in playing pick-up style basketball. There is no registration or fees required for this program but a liability waiver must be signed and on file with the JCSD. Athletic shoes must be worn. Adult open gym is an unsupervised, unstructured program. Participation is at your own risk. BASKETBALL FOR GRADE 1 and 2 SOMETHING NEW is a co-ed developmental basketball league for girls and boys in Grades One and Two. The games are held on Saturdays in Watertown with practices one night a week in Johnson Creek. All participants will receive a team shirt. This activity is sponsored by the Watertown Area YMCA and all games will be played at the Watertown Area YMCA. Limited number of players for each team The Recreation Department depends on volunteers to run a successful program. BASKETBALL FOR GRADE 3 THRU 6 The basketball programs for 3rd and 4th grade and 5th and 6th grade, boys and girls, will be playing on Saturdays, January and February, in Fort Atkinson with some games played at home in Johnson Creek or in Whitewater, Palmyra, or Eagle. Most games are played at Fort Middle school. Game times vary – 3rd and 4th grade boys and girls typically play at 9 AM or 10 AM; 5th and 6th grade boys and girls play at 11 AM, noon, or 1 PM.

JOHNSON CREEK YOUTH SOCCER The fall 2017 soccer program will be similar to the spring program. The micro-soccer format will be used, which includes smaller sized fields and smaller sided teams. The Junior Program is for

4k/5K and grade 1/2 and 3/4 aged students. Games will be played during the months of September and October on Saturday mornings at Bell Park. CO-ED SOFTBALL/BASEBALL IN THE FALL Join a 4-week “Sandlot” Softball/Baseball Program for BOYS and GIRLS in grades 2-3 and 4-5. This is a FREE pick-up game program to develop your skills. This is also an introduction to fast pitch softball during the month of October; Machine pitch. Sting free balls used. Contact Rec Department if interested. WINTER INDOOR fast pitch sessions for girls are available thru parent volunteers. WALK AND TALK SENIOR EXCERCISE PROGRAM Participants will meet in the Old HS gymnasium on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 910am starting in August.1 Group will not meet on the following dates: Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Holiday break Dec. 22- Jan. 3, Memorial Day, when school is closed or if there is inclement weather. STROLL OR ROLL Wear a pedometer to measure your physical activity level throughout the day. Not a competitive event but an encouragement for healthy living for parents with little ones to come out on the cold winter days with their stroller or baby jogger to run or walk and enjoy their own relaxing event in the OLD high school gymnasium. CHESS KNIGHTS Contact Ken Walters if interested in hosting a CHESS KNIGHT at a local business. Just a thought; let’s hear from you! FLAG FOOTBALL PROGRAM for GRADES 2 and 3 Join a popular five-on-five game filled with fun and action. In this game, the offensive team plays for a first down at midfield and a touchdown in the end zone. Running and passing plays are allowed, although there are “no-running zones” at midfield and near each goal line. The defensive 1

team covers receivers, rushes the passer and grabs flags to make “tackles.” Our Fall Flag Football registration starts in July and ends in August. Games are played in Watertown and are a part of the YMCA Flag Football Program. Games begin in September and end the last week of October. All participants will receive a jersey along with their own set of belt and flags to keep. Game times will depend on number of teams and team openings; games may start as early as 4:45 pm.
