Executive Summary This will be a major storm for most of our forecast area. Very hazardous conditions are expected from late Monday afternoon through mid-day Tuesday. Travel should be postponed, especially between 7 PM Monday through 9 AM Tuesday. Expect light snow this morning into early afternoon, then heavy snow late this afternoon into Tuesday associated with a coastal storm moving north. Snow could fall at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour tonight. Blowing snow will also be an issue. Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories remain in effect. The combination of windy conditions (wind gusts up to 50 mph) and the snow will result in blizzard conditions in northeast New Jersey. Blizzard Warnings remain in effect. The Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes will be adversely affected. Travel should be postponed tonight and Tuesday. Tidal flooding is expected with the Monday night and Tuesday high tides for the Atlantic Coast and Delaware Bay. Coastal Flood Warnings have been issued. Flooding is not expected along the Chesapeake Bay. Very cold air sweeps over the area in the wake of this system. Expect subzero wind chills as we move into Wednesday. Another briefing package is not anticipated unless major changes occur in the forecast. (Reason: forecasts can change rapidly as the event unfolds, so briefing packages become outdated very quickly).
