ACORNS AFTER-SCHOOL CLUB Woodcroft Primary School AFTER SCHOOL CLUB POLICY 2014 Aims:  To support parents by providing after school childcare from 3.15pm until 6.15pm.  To provide planned activities.  To help the children to acquire and develop new and existing skills, and provide children with activities that they may not otherwise encounter.  To offer the children light refreshments and fun activities at the end of the school day in a safe and friendly environment. Registration:  At the end of the school day all children in year one & two will be taken to the After School Club. Children in year three and above will make their own way to the club.  A register will be taken by the After School Club Leader. The register will record the following:  The child is present  The child is absent and the club has been informed  The child is absent but the club has not been informed Cancellation:  Parents will be notified in advance of any sessions that need to be cancelled  If the session needs to be cancelled on the day itself, e.g. due to adverse weather conditions or staff illness, the school will notify the parents by phone. The school will ensure that the children are supervised until the children are collected. Terms and Conditions: 1. The after school club will be run by Woodcroft Primary School. 2. The Club is currently operating for children attending Woodcroft Primary School only, however children from surrounding schools may be able to attend at a later date. 3. The Club will provide light refreshments. 4. The After School Club will be responsible for the care and management of children, treating them with respect at all times. Children will be supervised at all times. 5. There will be at least two members of staff in attendance at any time and legal guidelines relating to the adult/child ratio will always be adhered to. At least one member of staff will hold a first aid certificate, and a member of the Schools’ Senior Leadership Team will be on site at all times. 6. All children are expected to behave well, show respect, be polite, look after equipment and resources, be co-operative and courteous to staff and to each other, and abide by the Woodcroft Code. 7. Children who continue to behave inappropriately after the discipline procedure has been implemented may be excluded from the club on a permanent or temporary basis at the discretion of the Head Teacher.

8. The charges are flexible dependent on duration of session and will be advertised on the school website. The school reserves the right to review the fees at the start of each term. 9. Parents in receipt of childcare vouchers are responsible for ensuring that their account is not in arrears. Please note that our contract is with you and not with your employer. In the event that your account is in arrears pending payment from your employer, you are expected to clear these arrears within 4 weeks. 10. Places for the After School Club need to be booked and paid for in advance. The school reserves the right to exclude a child if fees are not paid. If the club has vacancies it may be possible to accept short notice/emergency bookings. Every effort will be made to accommodate demand, but emergency places cannot be guaranteed. 11. Refunds will not be given for non attendance. If a child is unwell, and has not attended school, a session credit will be issued. 12. If you think you are going to be late collecting your child, you must call the After School Club Leader. Parents who are late collecting their children will be charged an additional fee of £2.50 per half hour to cover additional staffing costs. Places will be withdrawn if children are regularly collected late. 13. Children who are not collected from school by 3.30pm may be placed into the After School Club. A charge of £2.50 per half hour will be made to a maximum of the regular session cost plus a £2.50 surcharge. 14. Payments for emergency and short notice bookings are payable immediately. The school reserves the right to withdraw places if payment is not received. 15. Parents are asked to keep the school informed of any change of emergency contacts via the school office. 16. In the event of a parent wishing to make a complaint, this should be made in the first instance to the After School Club Leader, and thereafter to the Head Teacher. Please refer to the Woodcroft Primary School complaints procedure. 17. Parents are asked to show agreement to these rules by signing and returning a copy of this policy. We regret that we are unable to offer a place without a signed agreement.
