Woodland Park Hockey Association Rules and Regulations Woodland Park Outdoor Invitational, January 13 – 16, 2017

1. A check of credentials and qualifications will take place before each team competes. A team representative must present the following credentials 1 hour before your first game: a. USA Hockey certified roster b. USA Hockey Consent to Treat Form for each player c. USA Hockey Code of Conduct Form for each player d. Travel permits will be required/checked for all teams from an affiliate requiring travel permits and all Canadian teams. Incomplete credentials could result in the forfeit of games 2. Tournament applications will be accepted until Sunday, January 1, 2017 or until the tournament has been filled. A registration fee of $800.00 must be paid in full along with tournament application form. Submit tournament applications via the online registration service provided on the Woodland Park Hockey website at http://www.woodlandparkhockey.com. In the event that issues are encountered, please contact the tournament director via email. Acceptance will be given by phone or email once tournament has been filled. No refunds will be given once a team has been notified of acceptance. 3. No admission fee for spectators. 4. This will be a USA Hockey sanctioned tournament at the 12U Peewee B and 14U Bantam B level. All teams must be registered with USA Hockey. All USA Hockey and CAHA rules and age divisions will govern unless approved otherwise. Only USAH officials will officiate games. 5. There will be a total of four teams at the Peewee B and four teams at the Bantam B level, each competing in a round robin format. Each team will be guaranteed four games. Two teams will participate in one additional championship game. Points will be awarded according to the following point system: 2 points for a win, I point for a tie and 0 points for a loss. After the first six games, the top two seeds will play the lower two seeds with the winners playing for the championship. 6. In the event that there is a tie in game points when determining seed positions for the semi-final round, the tiebreakers will be applied as follows: a. If two teams are tied, head-to-head results between the two teams. b. Goal differential: Subtracting goals-against from goals-scored, all games considered, the team with the best +/- rating being ranked highest. The maximum goal differential per game is +4. For example, a team who wines a game 7-2 will be credited with +4, even

though the team’s goal differential was +5. Head-to-head results will not factor back in; all teams will be ranked and seed based on the tie-breaker. c. Team allowing the fewest goals against. d. Team with fewest penalty minutes. e. Coin toss 7. Home teams will wear light (white) jerseys and away teams shall wear dark jerseys. The tournament director has the right to change color designations if necessary. 8. All games will have a 5 minute warm-up which will start when the Zamboni doors close. Each Peewee game will have 3 stop clock periods that are 12 minutes in duration. Each Bantam game will have 3 stop clock periods that are 14 minutes in duration. There will be 1 minute stoppage between periods. Players should be at the arena 1 hour prior to game time and be ready to go on the ice for the scheduled game time for the 5 minute warm-up. 9. All games are on 60 minute curfew. When the remaining time equals the time left to curfew, the clock shall be kept running. If there is a four goal or more differential in the third period, the clock will become run time. Stop time will continue only when the deficit is reduced to less than 4 goals. There will be no run time in the semi-finals or championship game. 10. No time outs will be allowed in the round robin games. One 30 second time out per team will be allowed in semi-final and championship game. 11. There is no overtime except in semi-final and championship games. 12. Overtime periods are sudden death. Overtime periods will be 5 minute stop clock. Teams will switch ends for all overtime periods. A shootout will occur if the teams are still tied after the 2nd overtime. Shootouts will consist of 5 players and a goaltender from each team. The coach will present a list to the referee with the order of the five shooters. The home team will shoot first. The team with the most goals after five shooters will be declared the winner. If the teams are still tied, the shootout will continue using one additional skater from each team until a winner is determined. If all players on one team have shot, then shooters will continue in the same order as they shot previously. 13. All teams must furnish their own penalty box attendant. 14. Locker rooms- The head coach or assistant coach, if the head coach is not present, is responsible for the locker room. The responsibility cannot be delegated to a parent or team volunteer. The head coach is responsible for the locker room conditions and activities within the locker room. All teams are to follow USA Hockey locker room policy. WPHA is not responsible for lost or stolen items. 15. Only the head coach or the team manager may express concerns to the tournament director and/or other tournament officials. 16. The referees and tournament directors’ decisions are final. No protests are allowed.

17. The tournament staff has the right to change a game time if circumstances beyond their control occur such as weather, loss of power, forfeit, etc.

18. Noise makers of any kind will be prohibited in the stands during tournament games. Please inform your parents of this rule. Any spectators in possession of a noise maker will be asked to leave. 19. Championship and runner-up trophies will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place teams after the completion of the championship game. 20. Penalties and their repercussions a. Fighting: Automatic ejection for the duration of the tournament. b. Major Penalties: Any player, coach or manager receiving 2 major penalties of any type shall be expelled for the duration of tournament play. c. Abuse: Any player, coach, manager, parent or observer found to be abusive toward any tournament official shall be expelled from further tournament participation and observation. d. Ejection: Any player ejected from a game for any reason shall remain in the team dressing room for the duration of the game. Failure to do so will result in expulsion from the tournament. e. Game Misconduct: Fighting is automatic termination of tournament play. The Tournament Directors and Officials will review other Game Misconducts prior to the next game, with the possibility of termination of tournament play. 21. Refusal to play a scheduled game or failure to appear on time for a scheduled game may result in forfeiture of remaining tournament games as determined by the Tournament Director. 22. All teams must place on file with the tournament director before the first tournament game, a copy of the Team Roster Form which has been approved and signed by their USA Hockey or CAHA Registrar. If any team should fail to comply with this rule, that team shall forfeit all games until the proper signed and sealed team roster is presented to the tournament director. The team violating this rule shall remain obligated to and shall pay all financial obligations to all opponents for the forfeited game costs and the league or tournament entry fees. 23. Game results will be posted to CAHA Electronic Scoring System within 24 hours of game completion.
