20th October 2016 Dear Parents and Carers We are planning to take a group of students from FE on a residential trip to a Youth Activity Centre called Hautbois. Hautbois Activity Centre opened in 1988 as a Residential, Training and Activity Centre, owned by Girlguiding Anglia. The Centre comprises an impressive 19th century country house, set amidst 28 acres of beautiful countryside located on the edge of the Norfolk Broads. The trip will take place between 3rd – 5th July 2017. The plan is that we will leave school on the Monday morning and return to school late on Wednesday afternoon. The students will help choose the activities we will participate in; they will likely include Abseiling, Aerial Runway, Archery, Bridge Building, Canoeing, Climbing, Kayaking, Monkey Climbing, Raft Building, Explorer Bush Craft, GPS Orienteering, Initiative Tests, Low Ropes. At present the total cost will not exceed £180. Students who are in receipt of the 16 – 19 Bursary may use this money to pay for the cost of the trip. We will also be making an application to some charitable organisations to see if we can reduce the costs even further. If you would like your son/daughter to participate in the trip, please complete and return the slip attached, with a deposit of £30, by Monday, 7th November 2016. If paying by cheque, please make cheques payable to Luton Borough Council. You are welcome to pay the full cost or to pay in instalments. Please indicate on the reply slip your preference and we will be in touch regarding payment arrangements. The final payment will need to be made by Wednesday, 19th April 2017. There are a maximum of 10 student places on the trip. If we do not have sufficient interest, any monies paid will be refunded to you.
