Cranham Primary School - intention to join The Rivers C of E Academy Trust You may remember receiving a letter from the Head teacher at Northwick Manor Primary School and myself in March, outlining that we were exploring the possibility of becoming a Multi Academy Trust (MAT). I am writing to inform you that the Governing Body at Cranham Primary School have now decided that the school will start consultation for academy conversion with a view to joining, and becoming part of, The Rivers C of E Multi Academy Trust (MAT). We have received approval from the Department for Education (DfE) for Cranham and Northwick Manor to convert to academies and join the Rivers C of E Multi Academy Trust (MAT), with a provisional conversion date of 1st September 2016. The Governing Body at Cranham has been considering academy conversion and collaborative partnerships for some years now. You will be aware from media reports of the Government’s drive for all schools to convert to academies by 2020. Despite recent reported ‘back-downs’ by the government, the direction of travel to convert all schools to academy status is not going away. We are keen to take steps that we feel are right for the future of our school. As you would expect, Governors have invested a great deal of time in considering potential partnerships for Cranham and feel that Rivers C of E Multi Academy Trust (MAT) will offer the best opportunities for the school and the children moving into the future. The other schools which are part of the Trust are:
St Clement’s C of E Primary School, Worcester Cutnall Green First School Heronswood Primary School, Kidderminster Great Witley C of E Primary School St Peter’s C.E.V.A. First School, Droitwich Droitwich (From September 1st 2016 following consultation) Northwick Manor Primary School, Worcester (From September 1st 2016 following consultation)
To answer some commonly asked questions, we are attaching a Frequently Asked Questions document. That said, two very frequently asked question are as follows: 1) Would the school name, logo or uniform change? No, our School logo, name and
uniform would not change. We are very proud of our successful school.
2) Rivers is a Church of England (C of E) Trust, would Cranham become a C of E school? No,
Cranham is a community school and would remain so.
There will follow a period of consultation which will run from Monday 6th June to Monday 11th July 2016 (inclusive). During this time there will be an open consultation meeting to be held in school on Monday 13th June 2016 between 4pm and 6pm. There will be no formal presentation. All stakeholders are invited to come along to ask questions informally if they wish. The Head teacher, Senior and Extended Leadership Team, Governors and Kate Brunt the CEO of the Rivers C of E Multi Academy Trust, will be available during the session to answer questions and provide more information if required.
Monday 20th June 2016 is the deadline for responses to the initial consultation to be put to Governors.
Monday 4th July 2016 is the date on which Governors will circulate a response to the consultation.
Time will then follow for any further consultation or communication before the consultation period formally closes on Monday 11th July 2016. Thank you for your continuing support, Yours sincerely
Gareth Morgan and Cranham Governing Body
