Cherry Tree Road, Holtspur, Beaconsfield, Bucks, HP9 1BH Telephone/Fax (01494) 674325/730434 Email:[email protected] Head teacher: Ms F O’Reilly 10 October 2017 Dear Parents and Carers Re: Trip to Hughenden Manor in High Wycombe – Wednesday 8 November 2017 We have organised a Year 5 trip to Hughenden Manor for a flavour of what Christmas was like in Victorian times. The experience will be all the more real if the children could dress up as Victorian children. Boys: school trousers are fine tucked into football socks, white shirt (which could be ragged and dirty or pristine!) and a waistcoat if possible and a flat cap. Girls: mop caps and pinafores over dresses or skirts past the knee, long sleeve tops with long socks and shawls. If you want to go as a rich child, hats and more elaborate dresses were worn. Please do not go to any undue expense but it would be fun to feel the part of a Victorian child on the day. We do have a small selection of flat caps, waistcoats and mop caps in the costume cupboard which could be borrowed – please ask one of us. The cost of the trip is £12.50 which includes all activities and transport. Please pay for this via ParentPay by Friday 20 October and please return the permission slip back to school as soon as possible. Please note that this is a voluntary contribution, however, if costs are not met the trip will not be able to go ahead. The children will need to bring a packed lunch. If a packed lunch is required from Chartwells please order this no later than Tuesday 17 October. No glass bottles are allowed on the site. Children will need to wear sensible shoes and coats as they will be walking outside from the church up the track to the Manor House. The children will also need to bring a small bag – this could be a carrier bag – to bring home the things that they make throughout the day. The trip will take place in the normal school day. It will be very exciting and worthwhile and we are sure the children will gain tremendous knowledge about the Victorians from it. Kind regards
