YEAR 3 TRIP TO THE BLACK COUNTRY MUSEUM Dear Parents/Carers, Year 3 will be making a visit to the Black Country Living Museum on Tuesday 29th September to support our topic work for this term. All three classes will be visiting on the same day This visit is part of our history topic on the Victorians and includes a trip a visit to a Victorian school room and a look inside Victorian houses and shops. We have found that this First-hand experience of life in Victorian Britain always helps to enrich the children’s learning about the Victorians back in school. Please send in a contribution of £14.50 in a named envelope to cover the cost of this visit, including the return coach journey. As we have to get all the way to Dudley, we will be leaving school at 9am promptly to get there for a 10:15am start (please ensure your child is in school on time for 8:50am registration). We anticipate being back in school by 3.15pm so the usual end of day collection arrangements will apply - we will bring the children back into school from the coach and out onto the playground via the Year 3 door (Please do not try to collect children directly from the coach as this can be difficult to monitor). If your son or daughter suffers with travel sickness, please do let your child’s class teacher know. Also, make sure that travel sickness tablets have been taken with breakfast before school and that the teacher has sufficient tablets in a named envelope for the return journey. Children will need to wear school uniform (including their school sweatshirt/cardigan) and sensible, waterproof walking shoes. They should also have with them a waterproof coat with a hood as this is an outdoor museum with a lot of walking involved and the good, old British weather can never guaranteed! Every child will also need a named, packed lunch in a disposable plastic bag – if your child has free school meals please see Mrs Beckett in the school office in advance of the trip so that a school packed lunch can be ordered for your child. It is optional for children to bring some spending money of up to £3 to buy sweets/cakes from the Victorian shops. If your child would like to bring some spending money then please send that money with your child on the day of the trip (preferably in a named envelope). We will not be visiting the main gift shop to buy souvenirs as there will not be enough time on the day. We are all looking forward to this visit as it is usually a great day out! Please do let your child’s class teacher know if you are CRB checked and would like to accompany us on our trip . Many thanks, Mrs Barrick, Mrs Taylor, Mrs Johnson and Mrs Beeston ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..............................................
