Year 4 Half Term Project Activities (January 2015)     

‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’

Children should complete at least 20 points worth of homework to an acceptable standard to receive a certificate. They can record their learning inside this homework book. They must complete at least one activity from ‘I enjoy reading, writing and speaking’ and ‘I enjoy being mathematical and scientific’. Photographs of learning is welcomed and can be displayed inside this homework book. Please colour in the projects once you have achieved them. HOMEWORK DUE DATE: Monday 22nd February 2016 2 POINTS Read a short poem or story by Roald Dahl.

4 POINTS Read a book outloud using a range of different voices.

6 POINTS Interview family members asking them to discuss which Roald Dahl book is your favourite.

8 POINTS Create a written leaflet or PowerPoint with pictures advertising a trip to Willy Wonka’s Factory.

10 POINTS Write a diary entry as Charlie the night before visiting the Chocolate Factory.

Practise your number bonds to 10, 100 and 1000.

How many times can you evolve your avatar this half term on SumDog? Keep a record of your progress.

Design a few patterns that have reflective symetery. These could be used for a sports kit or other clothing.

Conduct some research to gain some of your own data. Then put your data into a graph.

Design your own invention that could help you in school.

Design some Charlie and the Chocolate Factory word problems for a friend using the four operations. Can you give some top tips on solving them? Come up with and write your own Oompa-Loompa song or poem.

Watch a sports match or event and describe what you liked and how you could make it more exciting. What solids, liquids and gases can you find in your house or area?

Design a cartoon strip for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. You can use ICT, or any art media to produce this. Create a 3D model of Willy Wonka’s Invention room.
