We will be focusing our literacy work on “Northern Lights” by Phillip Pullman. To study different types of sentences & expanded noun phrases. Children design a dæmon for a friend and compare the book and film openings. Clockwork by Philip Pullman then inspires children to write both graphic novel and film script versions. We will continue to use high level SPAG within our work.
Living Things and their Habitats Classification Connoisseurs Take part in classification training, gaining credits along the way to gain your Classification Connoisseur qualification. Discover Linnaeus’ classic system and identify a range of living things. Your training culminates in the design of your own new creatures that fit within Linnaeus’ system.

Come and See: Local Church— Community During this topic we will be remembering, celebrating and responding to the experience of a wide variety of books and the purpose for which they were written and the Bible as the story of God’s love told by the People of God.
Creative Curriculum Intergalactic
Music Taking off-exploring pitch
In this unit children will be using a wide variety of instruments and mediums to learn about pitch. We will also be looking at film scores which particularly highlight the effects of pitch.
P.E Golf
This term we will be having specialised Golf lessons which will focus on the basic skills of Golf being taught in a fun and interactive way. Bench ball We will also be focusing on the skills and teamwork regarding bench ball.
Computing Algorithms and Programming We will be using the book Oliver’s Vegetables as a theme which will allow the children to build on their knowledge and understanding of algorithms that they developed in Year 5
Throughout this term we will journeying through outer space. We will be exploring the scientific elements of the solar system, whilst also completing a D&T project of designing and creating moon buggies. We will be undertaking Space Cadet training at the Centre for Life and exploring their Planetarium. We will also be researching the Space Race and producing our own advertisements for the first tourist travel to space.
