Year One Autumn Term
Maths Initially we will be focusing on place value and umber to solve problems. We will be ordering and finding one more and one less than. We will be revising counting, reading and writing numbers to 10 in numerals and words. We will move onto addition and subtraction to solve problems. We will be using lots of concrete resources to help us visualise our maths, We will be counting in 2s to learn our 2x tables. Article 28

Art and DT We will be designing and making bog babies using a variety of materials Article 29
Science Humans – body parts/senses We will learn to identify name and label basic parts of the human body Songs, games, actions and rhymes will help us with this. We will explore language associated with this topic. We will be exploring our senses in the outdoor environment and learn which part of the body is associated with each sense. Article 13 & 28
English The Bog Baby We will be using our core text of the Bog Baby throughout this term. This engaging story will build on children’s ability to empathise and we will explore and develop ideas through spoken language, drama, art, role play and other creative activities. We will be learning to write for write for purpose including recount, poetry and sequencing. Phonics We will be continuing to blend graphemes and phonemes in unfamiliar words, read common exception words, apply our knowledge to decode and read books using our phonic knowledge to decode and blend Article 12 & 13
P.E. Dance and Sending and Receiving We will explore a variety of ways to move our bodies. We will explore a variety of ways to send and receive balls etc. Article 31
History Changes in living
Computing Programmable toys We will be using the bee-bots to do simple programming and to understand what algorithms are.
Article 17
Music Our bodies We will be using our voices expressively and creatively by singing songs We will be exploring rhythm and tempo using our bodies to make sound. Article 29
R.E. We will be looking at Christianity and the miracles of Jesus. Article 30 P.S.H.E We will be looking at the importance of relationships and how to be a good friend

Memory We will explore historical phrases such as old, new and a long time ago We will learn to order objects in chronological order. We will explain how things have changed since we were born Article 17 & 28
