YES Announcements March 8, 2018 The mission of Yorktown Elementary, working in partnership with all stakeholders, is to educate all students in order to achieve personal and academic excellence in an ever-changing world.
New Announcements: IREAD Schedule – Third grade will begin testing Tuesday, March 13, 2018. In an effort to have students at their best, please be mindful of bedtimes, hearty breakfasts, and avoiding any appointments (if possible) during this week. Further testing details can be directed to your student’s teacher. March 13

Daylight Savings Time – It’s that time of year to spring forward and set those clocks ahead one hour as of Sunday, March 11, 2018 at 2:00 am. Yearbook Orders – Orders must be submitted by Friday, March 9, 2018. No late forms will be accepted. Online orders (ybpay.lifetouch.com) may be submitted by day end on Friday, April 6, 2018. Camp Tecumseh Paperwork Deadline – Those fifth grade students interested in camp must have all paperwork completed and turned in by Friday, March 9, 2018, no late forms will be accepted. Kids’ Night Out-Bingo (KNO) – KNO is scheduled for Friday, March 9, 2018 and will run from 2:20-4:00. Spring Pictures – Pictures will be taken on Friday, March 16, 2018. Forms were distributed the week of Monday, March 5, 2018. Additional forms are available in the office. Student Council Spring Dance – The dance is scheduled for Friday, March 16, 2018. Permission slips are available in the office. Third Quarter Report Cards – The quarter ends on Friday, March 9, 2018 and report cards will be sent home Monday, March 19, 2018.
Camp Tecumseh Fees Deadline – Camp fees must be submitted by Wednesday, March 21, 2018. PAWS PTO – The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 9, 2018 in the YES library at 3:30. Be sure to attend and get involved with the PTO and how it works. School Event Fees – When submitting any fee for school events, exact change and checks will only be accepted. The school does not have funds available to make change.
Previously Noted/Important Information: Sweet Treats – Please keep in mind any treats brought to school must be purchased. No homemade treats will be accepted. Spirit Wear – Spirit wear is now available for sale and available on the YES website. Be sure to look over all the wonderful items we have available. Orders will be submitted on the 20 th of each month. Additional questions should be directed to [email protected] Background Check Policy – Yorktown Community Schools has a new background check policy for any family member that would like to attend a field trip or volunteer at school as of 2016. Volunteers are required to complete an expanded criminal history check, complete mandatory bullying prevention training, and complete the volunteer agreement and waiver. All background checks are good for 3 years across the district and are conducted by Safe Hiring Solutions, LLC. Please visit www.yorktown.k12.in.us/volunteer for all needed information. Parents may eat lunch with their child or bring in birthday treats as a “guest” without a background check on file.
