Tonight, the Yeshiva University men’s basketball team hosts the United States Merchant Marine Academy, in a Skyline Conference battle, at the Max Stern Athletic Center. In the lone head-to-head TBA matchup last season at Liebertz Gymnasium , the Mariners trailed by 18 points in the early stages of the second half, but went on a 20-0 run ignite the come-frombehind Skyline victory, 61-56. Tonight marks the first time that USMMA will be playing at the Max Stern Athletic Center, since rejoining the Skyline Conference in 2016. Yeshiva is playing in the second game of its six-game homestand. Last time out, Yeshiva dropped a conference contest to the defending conference champion Farmingdale State Rams, 80-71. The Mariners earned a win in triple overtime over Mount Saint Vincent, 74-72, in King’s Point, N.Y., on Sunday afternoon. Simcha Halpert, of the Maccabees, was once again named to the Skyline Conference Weekly Honor Roll, this past Monday. He also earned Honorable Mention accolades by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association, back on December 4. Halpert is first in the conference in points per game (22.4) this season. He has a team-high total of 13 steals. Bar Alluf is averaging 17.9 points per game and 5.9 rebounds per contest. His 3.8 dimes per game leads the team.
