O.A.S.I.S.: We invite you to come to start off the new O.A.S.I.S. season with a Fall Potluck on Thursday, Sept.1 at 11.00 A.M. at Covenant Church. FROM THE GARDEN! Some of us have gardens, some of us don’t! This is the time of year when gardens flourish and so here is an opportunity to share. If you have extra vegetables and/or fruit that you would like to share, you are invited to bring them to church on Sunday mornings. If you don’t have a garden, please help yourselves, take some home and enjoy! A table will be set up Sunday mornings in the fellowship hall to which you can bring or pick up fresh produce. Any leftovers at the end of the morning will be brought to Indwell. This is another way God is blessing us to be community together! CLASSIC CAR OWNERS: On Sept 10 from 2 – 6pm Maranatha is hosting a community BBQ and one of the things that we are planning is to show classic cars or motorbikes; the idea is to have something of interest for the men of our community. If you have anything that would be of interest we’d love to have you join us and please feel free to invite any friends or family that might have something to show also. If you plan to bring something could you please contact Steve Booy at 519-536-0920 or John Klingenberg at 519-456-9445 so that we can plan properly. WELCOME (BACK) TO WESTERN UNIVERSITY! Don't let public university make you leave your faith at home. Join us as we explore how to love God and serve others on campus. New and returning Mustangs: come to our Open House on Wed., Sept. 7 from 5-7pm in University Community Centre, room 38B. Get some free food and meet some new friends! FROM WORLD RENEW – DISASTER RESPONSE SERVICES: The Detroit flooding of August 2014 two years ago has gone largely unnoticed. However, there are still hundreds of people living in unsafe, unlivable conditions in homes that are in desperate need of repair. The need is urgent for volunteers to help with muck-out, dry walling, painting, trimming, etc. Please prayerfully consider if this is something God would ask of you. No experience is necessary. WHEN? You can work for one day, a week, or for a long weekend, just about any time that works for your schedule. World Renew DRS is scheduling volunteers for the months of September, October, and November. ACCOMMODATIONS Housing and meals are available for those who will be staying overnight, serving multiple days. COST Special funding is available to cover the costs of housing and meals when you volunteer with World Renew DRS in Detroit, Mich. If the Lord is leading you to serve, contact Pauline Mitchell at
[email protected] or 616-965-2355.
