Billed as a recreation of successful past speed mentoring events, this was held in the impressive central hall of JP Morgan’s Embankment offices, once the assembly hall of the City of London School. Organised by CoreNet’s UK Chapter Young Leaders, this event was aimed at under-35s in the CRE world and introduced by Eva Alushaj the current leader of the group who explained to us the aims of the group and of the evening.
A presentation by Dave Hayes, Mike Doyle, and Kevin Mulligan, described the transformation of the buildings from a school to the present modern offices, what had been involved in caring for the original Victorian design and how the technical demands of 21 st century working had been incorporated, including the integration of massive engineering works.
Then it was on to the main business of the evening. Senior members of the UK Chapter acted as mentors, taking turns to visit each table of Young Leaders and being quizzed on their career journey and aspirations. Every 10 minutes a bell rang to signal the end of that session and the mentors moved on to the next table. Among those who gave their time as mentors were Juliet Filose of BP, Neil Austin of RBS, Michael Creamer of CBRE and the speakers - thanks to all of you!
CoreNet’s Young Leaders group aims to encourage, educate and entertain young CRE professionals with a string of events and learning opportunities. These resources and networking events for under 35s, with both peers and senior professionals, provide valuable, and valued, support in personal development and career growth. If you are interested in joining in the programme, keep an eye on the forthcoming events page on this website. AV Sutherland
