THE COLONIAL YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE Since  2014,  our  youth  levels  (Flag,  90-­‐lb  Tackle,  110-­‐lb  Tackle,  and  130-­‐lb  Tackle)  compete  in   the  Colonial  Youth  Football  League.    Now,  all  levels  of  our  football  program,  up  through  the   Junior  Varsity  and  Varsity  programs  at  the  high  school  level,  compete  in  the  Colonial  League.

KINDERGARTEN TO 8TH GRADE FLAG FOOTBALL                                                                                     For  5  &  6  year-­‐olds   TACKLE FOOTBALL – 90LB DIVISION                                                             For  7  &  8  year-­‐olds   TACKLE FOOTBALL – 110LB DIVISION                                                             For  9  &  10  year-­‐olds  

The  Colonial  Youth  Football  League  places  a  very  high  emphasis  on  playing  time,  and  league   rules  strictly  require  that  all  players  receive  a  substantial  minimum  number  of  plays.  

  DIVISIONS AND RULES

Our  Kindergarten  through  8th  grade  football  program  has  five  divisions,  described  below:    

FLAG FOOTBALL For  boys  and  girls  who  have  not  reached  the  age  of  7  prior  to  September  1st.     This  division  is  instructional,  only.    Scores  are  not  kept.    Emphasis  is  on  teaching  fundamentals   and  learning  to  love  the  game.    

TACKLE FOOTBALL – 130LB DIVISION                                                             For  11,  12  &  13  year-­‐olds   TACKLE FOOTBALL – MIDDLE SCHOOL For  7th  &  8th  Graders  

TACKLE FOOTBALL— 90LB DIVISION For  boys  who  have  not  reached  the  age  of  9  prior  to  September  1st.     Boys  who  are  under  90-­‐lbs  are  eligible  for  any  position.    Boys  who  are  between  90  and  115-­‐lbs   are  eligible  to  play  offensive  and  defensive  line  positions,  only.    Boys  who  are  over  115-­‐lbs  must   play  at  the  110-­‐lb  division.    

 

TACKLE FOOTBALL— 110LB DIVISION For  boys  who  have  not  reached  the  age  of  11  prior  to  September  1st.     Boys  who  are  under  110-­‐lbs  are  eligible  for  any  position.    Boys  who  are  between  110  and  135-­‐ lbs  are  eligible  to  play  offensive  and  defensive  line  positions,  only.    Boys  who  are  over  135-­‐lbs   must  play  at  the  130-­‐lb  division.    

TACKLE FOOTBALL— 130LB DIVISION

 

 

WE BELIEVE Our  boys  go  to  Mass  together,                                                             and  they  go  to  school  together.                                                 They  should  also  play  football  together.    

For  boys  who  have  not  reached  the  age  of  14  prior  to  December  31st.       Boys  who  are  under  130-­‐lbs  are  eligible  for  any  position.    Boys  who  are  between  130  and  155-­‐ lbs  are  eligible  to  play  offensive  and  defensive  line  positions,  only.    Boys  who  reach  the  age  of   13  before  September  1st  must  be  less  than  115-­‐lbs.    Boys  who  are  over  155-­‐lbs  are  not  eligible   to  play  at  this  level,  but  may  play  at  the  Middle  School  level,  if  in  7th  or  8th  grade.    

TACKLE FOOTBALL — MIDDLE SCHOOL For  boys  in  the  7th  or  8th  grade  at  a  diocesan  Catholic  school.     There  are  no  weight  limits  at  this  level.    

 

ELIGIBILITY

Please  have  the  following  available:     • Your  child’s  weight.   • Your  health  insurance  information   • Your   credit   or   debit   card   (as   payment   is   made  online  at  registration)   • Your   child’s   birth   certificate   (if   new   to   NDYF),  which  will  be  collected  later

  To  be  eligible  to  play  for  Notre  Dame,  your   child  must  either:   • Attend  a  diocesan  Catholic  school,   OR     • Be  a  member  of  a  diocesan  Catholic   parish.  

  PRACTICES  

   

LOCATION:      Notre  Dame  High  School   START:      First  Monday  in  Aug.  (typically)   FREQUENCY:     Flag-­‐   • 3  times  per  week  in  the  summer   • Twice  per  week  once  school  starts    

Tackle-­‐  

• 4  times  per  week  in  the  summer   • 3  times  per  week  once  school  starts    

GAMES LOCATION:      NDHS  (home)  or  Travel   CYFL  Divisions-­‐   • Play   weekly   (8   games)   on   Saturdays   or   Sundays,  beginning  last  weekend  in  Aug.   • Post  season  (up  to  3  games)  begins  in  late   Oct,  with  the  Championship  in  early  Nov.  

COSTS

To  be  eligible  to  play  for  Notre  Dame,  your   son  must  attend  a  diocesan  Catholic   school.       This  is  a  PIAA  rule.  

Flag  Football  -­‐  $50   Tackle  Football  (all  levels)  -­‐  $125   Family  Discounts  are  available.

 

REFUND POLICY

ARE GIRLS ELIGIBLE?

Fees  are  used  for  the  purchase  and   refurbishment  of  equipment.    Once   equipment  decisions  are  made,  refunds   are  reduced,  as  follows:   Refund,  before  May  31st  =  100%   Refund,  before  July  1st  =  50%   No  refund  after  July  1st    

 

Though  parents  are  not  required  to   volunteer  a  minimum  amount  (e.g.,  at  the   concession  stand),  we  hope  that  all   families  will  volunteer  to  help,  on  occasion   and  as  needed.    There  are  several   positions  in  need  of  a  volunteer,  including:   • • • • • • •

VOLUNTEERING

• Plays   weekly   on   Mondays,   beginning   in   late  Aug.   • Regular   season   ends   in   early   Nov,   and   there  is  no  post-­‐season.  

MIDDLE SCHOOL FOOTBALL

By  diocesan  rules,  girls  are  eligible  to  play   flag  football,  only.    The  Diocese  of   Allentown  does  not  permit  girls  to  play   tackle  football.
