Youth Programming • 501(c)3 non-profit impacting economic vitality through integrated workforce, business, and community development. • Dropout prevention, recovery, and school-tocareer/college programming. • State affiliate of national Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program. • Vocationally-focused training facility that provides secondary education and job skills training to refocused youth, ages 16-26.
Vision & Mission Vision: All young adults are educated, employed, and careerbound. Mission: Equip young adults with the skills to overcome barriers and win in education, employment, and as citizens.
Statewide Programming Dropout Prevention: • Multi-Year programming in traditional high schools for elective course credit with 9th-12th grade students. • Alternative Education programming in alternative schools with 14 – 26-year-olds.
Dropout Recovery: • Out-of-School programming in drop-in centers or onestops with focus on graduation and employment. • Leverage local WIOA funding to serve 14 – 26-year-olds.
School-to-Career / College Transitions: • College Success programming at Jackson College with focus on first generation, at-risk college students. • 12-Month Follow-up targeting college/employment after participants complete the ‘active’ phase of programming.
Local Programming Academic: • GED Completion • High School Diploma – Career Online High School • Vocational/Academic Credential – Stepping Stones Diploma • Funded by local school districts
Vocational: • “Employer Champions” Group • YouthBuild Construction Training – HBI PACT • Home health care • Culinary Arts • Manufacturing • Auto body • Auto Mechanics
Local Programming Leadership Development: • Service Learning Fridays • Youth Leadership Council • Parents’ Groups
Innovative Partnerships for Barrier Removal: • Co-location with DHHS case manager • Transportation to-and-from all programming • Substance Abuse / Anger Management counseling • Individualized tutoring • Day care provided by Tri-County HeadStart • Interagency agreement with Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS)
