YOUTH SOCCER CAMP CAMP DIRECTOR: TROY EDWARDS HEAD WOMEN’S SOCCER COACH CONTACT INFORMATION: 630-844-4207 | [email protected] In Coach Edwards’ five years at the helm of Aurora University women’s soccer, he has been named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year and the Spartans have had some of their most successful seasons in the history of the program. Over the post four seasons, AU is 76-25-7 overall and 45-7-1 in the NACC. The Spartans have claimed six NACC trophies and made three NCAA Tournament appearances. During his years as a head coach, Edwards’ teams have set offensive and defensive records, while his players consistently earn All-Conference, Conference Player of the Year, All-Region and All-American honors. Additionally, all of his teams have earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award. Formerly an assistant coach for men’s soccer at Wheaton College, Edwards helped the team achieve a national championship as well as a national record run of 66 games without a loss.

In his three seasons at AU, the Spartans have a 30-22-8 overall record and are 18-8-4 in the NACC. Prior to coming to AU, Lakin spent nine seasons as the Illinois Wesleyan University men’s soccer coach where he had a 67-75-16 overall record. Before IWU, Lakin was the men’s and women’s soccer coach at Millikin University from 1998 to 2002. There he was a three-time Coach of the Year in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.

Lakin played collegiate soccer at Illinois State University and earned Most Improved Player for the 1992 Redbirds team and was a 1993 team captain. He was chosen to the Missouri Valley Conference all-league and all-tournament squads, and was named to the all-Midwest region team.

MINI SPARTANS 4–6 YEAR OLDS (PRE-K–1ST GRADE) 9–10 a.m. | Pick up at 10 a.m. This camp is designed with children in mind and builds young athletes using soccer-specific activities.

»» Soccer shoes, shin guards, water bottle and soccer ball (age appropriate) »» Training attire, including rain gear and tennis shoes in case of inclement weather, and sunscreen

FUTURE SPARTANS 7–14 YEAR OLDS (2ND–8TH GRADE) 9 a.m.–Noon | Pick up at noon at Vago Field Skill development is the cornerstone of the camp. The tactical side of soccer is introduced for players wanting to gain an edge in their game, while still emphasizing skill development in a fun environment.
