Youth Umpire Program The 2016 Los Gatos Li0le League season is just around the corner and the League needs youth umpires for our AA, AAA and Major games. In order for the program to be successful, we need responsible youths who are interested in giving back to the community (while earning some extra cash!).

Who: Youth umpires are defined as full-5me students, 20 years old or younger who have completed the umpire training conducted each year by Los Gatos LiAle League. Youth umpires may umpire AA, AAA, and Majors baseball games, with the following age restric5ons: • AA: 11 years old, as of January 1st 2016 • AAA: 13 years old, as of January 1st 2016 • Majors: 15 years old, as of January 1st 2016

Training: Los Gatos LiAle League (LGLL) will provide training to all interested youth umpires. • Rules Clinic: Led by our own famous District 12 umpire Dan Campagnolo, this clinic discusses the rules of LiAle League and is open to all returning and new youth umpires. This clinic is being held Wednesday, February 10th, 6pm – 8:30pm at Blossom Hill School, Mul5purpose Room. • Mechanics Clinic (mandatory to aAend to become a youth umpire): Led by Dan Campagnolo and other District 12 umpires, this clinic goes over basic umpire mechanics. This clinic is being held Sunday, March 6th from 10am – 2pm at Baggerly Field at Blossom Hill Park. Lunch/snack will be provided.

Games: The league schedules games throughout the week. Youth umpires need to be able to work games during these 5mes: • Saturdays: Games occur throughout the day, typically between 9:00am and 6:30pm • Mid-week: Games are scheduled Monday – Friday, first pitch around 5:00pm

Game Scheduling: Once you have completed the training and are cer5fied as a youth umpire, you will be able to sign-up for Los Gatos LiAle League games. Details of this process will be provided.

CompensaOon: Youth umpires may be compensated in one of two methods: • Community Service: Each game is worth 2 hours of community service credit • Payment: $35 per game for Majors; $25 per game for AAA and $20 per game for AA Youth umpires will also receive a free meal voucher for aaer their game.

Apply!: If you are interested in being a Youth Umpire and this will be your first year of doing so then the

first step is to complete an Umpire Applica5on at the League’s website: www.lgll.org. All returning umpires need not re-apply.
