STUDENTS: PLEASE PURCHASE SUPPLIES EARLY! ITEMS LISTED FOR CLASS ARE REQUIRED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
Class Description: Zipper got you stuck? Don’t be intimidated by the zipper! Practice zipper techniques using your machine’s special zipper feet and feel confident sewing any zipper that comes your way. We will create a purse with 3 different types of zippers so you’ll have a fun finished project to show off your new zipper skills!
Supplies Required: •Fabric: -woven cotton or other non-slip, non-stretch fabric – solid color or print ~ 1 yard -coordinating second fabric for lining and/or outer piecing ~ 1 yard •Bias strips of your fabric (or of coordinating/lining fabric) – 2” wide by 24” long OR purchase a bias tape package – ½” double fold •Zippers: -one 9 or 12” Molded Plastic zipper, size #5 for main outside purse closure, of desired color -one 7 or 9” Coil Zipper, size #3 for outside pocket, of desired color -one 7” Coil Zipper, size #3 for inside pocket, of desired color •Optional: rotary cutter to make cutting the pieces easier (classroom has ruler grids and mats for student use)

In Addition to Class Supplies, Please bring Basic Sewing Supplies: Good quality fabric scissors Small scissors or thread nips (optional) Straight pins 6” seam gauge or ruler Seam ripper and/or razor blade Fabric marker/pencil that washes away with water or disappears with heat Assorted machine needles Pen and paper for notes Any other items you commonly use (Please call us with questions or email Annie directly with questions about this particular class’s supplies) STUDENTS: YOUR MACHINE AND EMBROIDERY UNIT SHOULD BE IN GOOD WORKING ORDER. PLEASE COME WITH KNOWLEDGE OF OPERATIONS SUITABLE FOR THE CLASS CONTENT.
