Some confusion stems from Whitlocks being buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Orange, Texas. I suggest that you write James Wilson. I gave you his address in my last mailing. He might have the answer. Thanks.

Joan Cady 4639 Rt. 50 Gansevoort, NY 12831 Dear Ms. Cady, Mr. Wilson wrote to me poioting out that Jane A. Whitlock did indeed have a stone in .Salem's Evergreen Cemetery. I am embarrassed. I recorded the information for him from that very stone. Perhaps this is what they call a "senior moment." I apologize for misleading you. What perplexes me now is that the cemetery records in the library do not show Jane A. I think the next step is to write Nick Durrin, Evergreen Cemetery Supervisor,. Cemetery Road, Salem, NY 12865 with your question. In the mean time I will ask him Ita search the original records for Jane A. I am interested in knowing why she is not listed on the library database. Do you have an Email address?

I returned to the cemetery to figure out why we couldn't make a connection with Jane A. NU HugheY,A,N1ckwas not there, but I revlSlted the stone to check the data. I retu~ned to the library data base and decided to do a search by burial date since no Whitlock Ol~Hughey ,l'Jijrl'J.D

Dugan~hard to read mother's name, residence Easton, widow, d. Cambridge, Julv 6, 1910, age 74. No cause of death was given. She was interred on July 8, 1910. , It appears that Jane married a second time--to a Mr. Dixon. His first name was not listed. suggest The practice of the day was to bury the wife with the first husband, Hughey. that you write Sally Beelen, Town Clerk, 159 State Rt. 372, Cambridge, NY'12816 and Linda Record, Village Clerk, Municipal Bldg., Cambridge, NY 12816. A death certificate should be in one of these offices.

I searched for a 1910 Salem Press obituary but this year's paper was missing from the collection. The Cambridge Library has copies of the Washingtoll County Post for these years, I believe. That would be a good possibility. Any of these sources might tell you how she died.
