Our Ref: LOM/Year11leavers/001 November 2016 Dear Parents / Carers I am delighted to be working once again with all of the students in the current Year 11. I am writing to you now to highlight some of the opportunities that are available to students over the next few months and to point out some of the important dates over the course of this year. Our students have made a really positive start to their studies in Year 11 and it was fantastic to see so many of you attend the Revision Skills Seminars as well. Several of you asked when the Year 11 Mock Examination Timetables would be available and these were then distributed before half term. In addition I presented assemblies to our Year 11 students prior to the half term holiday on Revision Skills. On Tuesday 8th November, Year 11 students will have the opportunity to take part in a seminar called “Maximize your Study Skills.” They will also cover ideas on how to achieve their full potential in this seminar by a leading educational development group designed to help students build a range of revision techniques for their exams. The school will be bearing the cost of these seminars and they will be offered to all Year 11 students. The remainder of the day will be spent with the 6 th Form team and tutors with time to get used to and use the school’s new revision tool, GCSE Pod, and introductory sessions into 6th Form life. Students can be in non-uniform for the day as part of the 6th form experience. Please note the following dates in your diary: 8th November 2016 17th November 2016 14th – 25th November 2016 9th December 2016 17th & 18th January 2017 2nd February 2017 7th & 8th February 2017 15th March 2017 11th May 2017 12th May 2017 15th May – 27th June 2017 26th May 2017

The Prom is recognised as one of the ‘highlights’ of the year for all Year 11 Students. As this is such an important event, we have very strict attendance criteria. The students have already been informed of these during our recent assemblies but please can they be reminded as follows: Any student who has received any of the following will not be allowed to attend the Prom:   

(Genuine serious illness or other mitigating circumstances will be considered by the Community Leaders.) In the meantime, can I thank you for all the support you are giving your son/daughter during this both challenging and exciting year. It will be so important for their success this summer.
