Update: Detectives Arrest Serial Robber July 12, 2017 On Thursday, July 6, 2017, Robbery Assault detectives, along with detectives from the Community Problems Unit, Domestic Violence Unit, Burglary Unit, and San Xavier Directed Patrol, executed a search warrant and subsequently arrested 18-year-old Angel Edward Fimbres Jr. on two counts of armed robbery, one count of 3rd degree burglary, and one count of shoplifting. Mr. Fimbres Jr. was identified by a deputy who recognized him from previous contacts, following a media release for a shoplifting call at a Circle K which occurred on May 1st. Mr. Fimbres Jr. is also believed to be the suspect in at least three other robberies/thefts at Circle K locations around southwest Tucson. He has been booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Complex for his charges. Detectives are still seeking information on the female suspect from the theft which occurred on May 1st. Original Release: Circle K Cigarette Thieves June 23, 2017 On Monday, May 1, 2017, just after 5:20 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Circle K located at 2840 West Los Reales Road for a report of a theft. Deputies learned that two suspects, one male and one female, entered the store at around 5:18 a.m., walked behind the counter, and began taking multiple packs of cigarettes from the shelves as well as some cash. Both suspects then exited the store less than two minutes after entering. Witnesses also described seeing both suspects in the store earlier trying to buy cigarettes, and then leaving after their purchase was declined for not producing proper identification. Community Problems detectives have taken over the investigation and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying both suspects from this case. Anyone with information is asked to call 9-1-1.
