WARRENSBURG, Mo. (April 17, 2018) - It was Senior Day for Central Missouri Jennies Softball Tuesday in Warrensburg and the Jennies sent their five seniors off with a sweep of Central Oklahoma. The sweep puts UCM at 27-19 and 16-6 in the MIAA. Game One - Central Missouri 4, Central Oklahoma 3 - 8 innings Play-by-Play • The Bronchos threatened and scored in the second inning. They took a 1-0 lead when Bailey Thompson was hit in the back with an Alexa Bradley pitch. Bradley got a ground ball to end the inning and leave the bases loaded. • It didn’t take long for UCM to respond. In the bottom half of the inning Hailey Crabtree got on a base with a one out double that just skipped over the bag at third base. Kaitlyn Markin was moved up in the batting order and it paid off. In her very first at bat, Markin gave the Jens the lead, 2-1, with a long home run to left center. • Bradley and Broncho pitcher Jayden Chestnut put up zeroes until the sixth. JoBi Heath started the inning with a single up the middle and was bunted over to second base. With Katie Giacone now in the circle, the Bronchos tied the game with a two-out single from Carli Jones. • For the third time in the last seven games, seven innings we’re enough to decide a winner and we went to extra innings. Just two pitches into the eighth, the Bronchos regained the lead as Allie Eicher deposited a 1-0 pitch to right center and UCO was up 3-2. • Down a run, Emily King went the other way with one out and singled through the right side of the infield. Brenlyn McCoy pinch ran and moved up to second on a passed ball. Two batters later, Crabtree tied the game with an RBI single to right, and moving as the flex position to pinch run, Giacone scored the winning run on a UCO wild pitch. Jennies Stat Leaders • Hailey Crabtree picked up three hits in the game finishing 3-4 with a run and an RBI. • Kaitlyn Markin drove in two runs with a home run. • Payton Summers reached base three times with a single and two walks. • Emily King, Alexis Koop and Courtni Smith all singled. • Alexa Bradley pitched the first 5.1 innings. She gave up two runs (one earned) on six hits with a strikeout. • Katie Giacone earned the win pitching 2.2 innings and allowing a run on three hits with five strikeouts. For the Bronchos • Morgan Heard and Tori Ritz each finished 2-4. Ritz also scored a run. • JoBi Heath and Allie Eicher each had a hit and a run. • Bailey Thompson and Carli Jones each had a hit and drove in a run. • Jayden Chestnut pitched all 7.1 innings. She gave up four runs on eight his with two walks and two strikeouts. Game Two - Central Missouri 5, Central Oklahoma 0 Play-by-Play • It may have been senior day, but it was freshman who had the best day of all. Pitcher Sarah Brown kept the Bronchos off the board all of game two for a three-hit shutout. • The Jennies gave her some support with runs in the second, third and fourth innings. It started with two outs in the second. Alexis Koop kept the inning alive with an infield single. Three pitches later Allie Dishinger got a hold of one and hit a line drive over the centerfield fence for a two-run home run. • UCM got the first two batters on in the third and added a run on Payton Summers’ sacrifice fly.Kaitlyn Markininal two runs came an inning later. Koop’s bunt single moved Kaitlyn Markin, who singled and stole a base to third. Markin made it all the way home when Broncho pitcher Peyton Walker overthrew first base attempting to throw Koop out. Koop scored the Jennies fifth run later in the inning on an RBI single from Taylor Dames. Jennies Stat Leaders • Brown pitched all seven innings and gave uKaitlyn Markinits with two walks and four strikeouts. • Taylor Dames, Kaitlyn Markin and Alexis Koop each had two hits. Koop also scored twice while Dames drove in a run. • Allie Dishinger knocked her second home run of the season. She finished 1-3 with a run and two RBI. • Emily King and Courtni Smith also had a hit in the win. For the Bronchos • Lexy Dobson, JoBi Heath and Tori Ritz had the Bronchos only hits, all singles. • Lauren Gibson came out of the bullpen to throw three scoreless innings giving up three hits. • Peyton Walker allowed all five runs on six hits with a walk and a strikeout. News and Notes • The Jennies 16 MIAA wins match the fifth most in team history with four games left to play. They had 17 last year. • UCM has clinched their fifth straight winning season. • Central Missouri now has seven walk-off wins this season after their game one win. They are 6-0 in extra innings, all of which have gone just eight innings. • The Jennies went 13-1 at home this season, their second straight season with 13 home wins. They are 26-4 over the last two years at home. • This was the Jennies first sweep of Central Oklahoma since they entered the MIAA in 2013, and their first sweep under Coach Anderson. Up Next • The Jennies wrap up the regular season this weekend with a pair of doubleheaders. They’ll take on Lincoln and Lindenwood Friday and Saturday, April 20-21.

Anderson vs. the Opposition • Two of the Blue Tigers three all-time wins against UCM has been with Susan Anderson as coach. She is 13-2 against Lincoln. Not the same story against Lindenwood. The Jennies swept the Lions last year to push Coach Anderson to an even 6-6 all-time against Lindenwood. Jennies on the Road
• Central Missouri has not been the same team on the road as they are at home. The Wednesday, April 18 Jennies are 6-9 this season in road games compared to going 13-1 in Warrensburg. • Allie Dishinger and Hailey Crabtree each picked up career hit number 100 last week. They are the 50th and 51st members of UCM’s 100 hit club. • Next to get 100 hits will be sophomore Lauryn Deer who is just five hits away. She already has 57 hits this season. She needs seven more to crack the single-season top-10 hits list. • Emily King, who has already surpassed 100 career hits, is also two home runs away from joining the all-time top-10 list with 15. Emily has 148 career hits which is 23rd all-time in Jennies history. She needs five more to reach 22nd and 12 more to crack the top-20. • Alexa Bradley has six saves in her career which is the fourth most all-time at UCM. The UCM record is 12, set by Mandee Berg. Katie Giacone is right behind Bradley with five saves. Worm Killer
• One thing that has not changed in two seasons is that Alexa Bradley is a ground ball machine. In 84.1 innings this season, Bradley has induced 161 ground ball outs, while also striking out 41 and getting 50 to fly out. Of her 252 outs this season, 63.8% have come on ground balls. Model of Consistency • Only one Jennie has started a game this season at catcher, that’s Allie Dishinger. That’s a trend that has continued for a while. Dishinger was the only Jennie that started at catcher last year as well, starting in 55 games. Dating back to 2016, Dishinger has started in 103 straight games at catcher, breaking the century mark last weekend at Emporia State. Late Game Heroics • Make sure to stay to the end of games this season as the Jennies have made a habit of winning in their final at bat. Of the Jens 27 wins this season seven have been of the walk-off variety, including a win on a walk-off wild pitch Tuesday against Central Oklahoma. • It isn’t just at home either. The Jennies are pulling off thrilling wins on the road as well. In the Jennies win at Washburn last week they tied the game in the fourth inning, before winning in extras, 2-1, thanks to Courtni Smith’s two-out RBI single. Too Fast • The Jennies 77 stolen bases this season are the second most in the MIAA. Lauryn Deer is also second individually with 26. That moves her to a tie for sixth place all-time with teammate Makayla Schoonover. She needs just four more stolen bases to reach 30, something only one other Jennies has done. Ali Jo Rogers stole more than 30 bases in a season twice, in 2015 and 2016. Close Calls • Part of the Jennies success has been their ability to win close games. This season, Central Missouri is 13-3 in one run games and 4-1 in two-run games. While UCM has been terrific late in games, outscoring opponents 54-35 in the sixth inning on. They’ve had problems starting games though, where opponents have scored 40 runs in the first inning in 46 games played. However when the Jennies do score in the opening inning, they are 12-5 this season. MIAA Tournament • This weekend marks the end of the regular season for the Jennies. Next week is the MIAA Tournament held in Oklahoma City, Okla. At 16-6 in the MIAA, the Jennies are in a tie for second place in the conference standings. Last year the Jennies earned the No. 3 seed by finishing 17-9. If the Jennies win all four games this weekend, it’ll be just the second time in team history that they have won 20 conference games in a single season.
