Central Missouri played at the Regional Crossover in Maryville, Mo. last weekend, where they went 3-1 against the Northern Sun teams. Two of those three wins were decided in their final at bat. At 1-1 in the MIAA, the Jennies are tied for eighth in the league standings. The Jennies will start the week at home as they take on Missouri Southern in a double header on Wed., Mar. 21. Then the Jens hit the road to face Fort Hays (Mar. 23) and Nebraska-Kearney (Mar. 24). Central Missouri was picked to finish fourth in the 2017 MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll. The Jennies tallied 133 points in the poll. 2018 will mark the 47th season of Jennies softball. It will also be the 12th season under the direction of Head Coach Susan Anderson. LAST TIME OUT

MARYVILLE, Mo. (March 18, 2018) - Central Missouri wrapped up a weekend of softball in Maryville with two 4-3 wins including one walk-off win for the Jennies. UCM defeated both Northern State and Wayne State and improve to 12-14. Game One - Central Missouri 4, Northern State 3 Play-by-Play • Lots of scoring early in this one, and a little late with not much in the middle. The Wolves got on the board first with an RBI single in the opening inning. NSU still has the bases loaded with two outs, but Alexa Bradley escaped the jam by inducing a ground out. • The Jennies used their speed atop the lineup to score three in the bottom half of the first. Lauryn Deer singled for the only hit of the inning. She stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and tied the game on a fielder’s choice. UCM continued to put pressure on the defense and it paid off. Taylor Dames and Courtni Smith executed a double steal, and Dames scampered home as the catcher committed an error. Smith later scored on a sacrifice fly. • The scoring stopped until the fifth when the Jennies scored what turned out to be the game-tying run. Hailey Crabtree and Deer singled to start the inning and Crabtree scored on a fielder’s choice RBI from Payton Summers. • The Wolves got to within one in the sixth on a two-out home run from Kaitlyn King, but Katie Giacone got the next four outs to hold onto the win for the Jennies. Jennies Stat Leaders • The Jennies outhit the Wolves 8-5. Deer was on base all three times going 3-3 with a stolen base and a run scored. • Summers drove in two of the Jennies four runs. • Emily King finished 2-2. • Taylor Dames scored, drove in a run and stole a base. • Courtni Smith and Hailey Crabtree were each 1-2 with a run scored. • Alexa Bradley got the win pitching the first four innings and allowing just one run on four hits with three walks and a strikeout. • Katie Giacone earned her first save of the season pitching the final three innings and giving up two runs on one hit with a walk and a strikeout. For the Wolves • Jill Fisher pitched all six innings and allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits with two walks and three strikeouts. • Kaitlyn King had the biggest hit, a pinch hit, two-run home run. • Jenna Helgeson was 1-3 with a run scored. • Kennady Thompson reached base twice with a hit, walk and drove in a run. Game Two - Central Missouri 4, Wayne State (Neb.) 3 - 8 Innings Play-by-Play • The Jennies fell behind 2-0 after the first inning. The fourth batter of the inning took Jennies pitcher Shelby Clark over the left centerfield fence for a two-run home run. • UCM got on the board a few innings later. Lauryn Deer led off the third inning with a double and scored on Courtni Smith’s RBI single. One batter later, Payton Summers drove home Smith to tie the game with an opposite field single to right-center. • The Wildcats hit their second home run of the game, a solo shot to left off the bat of Jordyn Breitbarth to reclaim the lead, 3-2. • There was no quit in the Jennies though who worked to tie the game in the sixth. Hailey Crabtree led off with a single and was moved over on a bunt from Alexis Koop. Pinch hitter Brenlyn McCoy stepped up to tie the game with a two-out RBI single through the left side. • Neither team could cross the plate in the seventh, so the game went into extra innings. • International tie-breaker rule meant a runner was placed on second base starting in the eighth inning. Wayne State moved their runner to third with a bunt, and Katie Giacone got a pop out and a line out to end the inning with the score still tied. • It took only one batter in the eighth for the Jennies to win it. With Crabtree on second, Koop was looking to sacrifice her to third, but an error by the first baseman allowed Crabtree to score the winning run. Jennies Stat Leaders • The Jennies knocked 10 hits to the Wildcats four. • Summers was 3-4 with an RBI. • Deer and Smith each tallied two hits and scored a run. • Crabtree reached base twice with a single and a walk. She also scored twice. • Clark went the first five innings in the circle and allowed three runs on four hits with a strikeout. • Giacone pitched the final three innings and earned the win. She didn’t allow a baserunner and struck out two. For the Wildcats • Alyx Hagen went 1-3 with a two run home run. • Breitbarth also was 1-3 with a homer. • Katelyn Wobken had a hit and a run scored. • Maddie Moser started and pitched the first three innings. She surrendered two runs on five hits with a walk and a strikeout. • Riley Vanderveen suffered the loss pitching four innings and giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits with a strikeout. News and Notes • The Jennies went 3-1 in Maryville this weekend against the Northern Sun. • Two of their three wins came in their final at bat. Of their 12 wins, four have been walk-offs. • Lauryn Deer was a collective 5-7 in two games today. • The Jennies are 7-2 in their last nine games. • Brenlyn McCoy is 2-2 pinch hitting this season. • UCM didn’t commit a single error in either game. • Opponents scored a run in the first inning of both games, but the Jennies came back to win both. • Central Missouri is 3-0 this year in extra inning games.

Anderson vs. the Opponents • Coach Anderson has had success with the Jennies against these three MIAA opponents. She has 19 wins against both Missouri Southern and Fort Hays State and is undefeated in her time against Nebraska-Kearney with an perfect 11-0 record. Jennies at Home/Away • Central Missouri hasn’t seen much action in Warrensburg yet this season, but they’ve made the most of it when they have been. UCM is 2-0 in home game. In true road games, the Jennies are not faring as well, with a 2-5 record. UCM is 1-1 in MIAA road games. Milestones • Allie Dishinger is nearing 100 hits. She has 92 hits and Hailey Crabtree, a junior has 78 hits entering the week. • Sophomore Lauryn Deer already has 34 hits this season. Combined with her 38 last year and she is up to 72. She needs 30 more to crack the single-season top-10 hits list. • Emily King, who has already surpassed 100 career hits, is also three home runs away from joining the all-time top-10 list. • Alexa Bradley and Katie Giacone each have five career saves which are tied for the fourth most all time. The UCM record is 12, set by Mandee Berg. Bradley also needs 13 more strikeouts to reach 100 for her career. Streaks Are Us

• Senior outfielder Courtni Smith has kicked it into high gear lately. She has picked up at least one hit in her last 10 games, the longest hitting streak of the season for the Jens. She also has reached base in 11 straight. Lauryn Deer picked up a hit in all four games last weekend and is currently on a four game hitting streak and six game reached base streak. Running with the Deer • One of the most consistant Jennies this season has been sophomore outfielder Lauryn Deer. She not only leads the team with a .400 batting average, but she’s swiped 17 bags out of the leadoff spot. The Jennies have combined for 12 three-hit games this season, not only is Deer the only player with multiple, she has five of the 12. Worm Killer • One thing that has not changed in two seasons is that Alexa Bradley is a ground ball machine. In 36 innings, Bradley has induced 70 ground balls, while also striking out 19 and getting 14 to fly out. Of her 108 outs this season, 65% have come on ground balls. Stolen Base Success • The Jennies haven’t hit many extra-base hits this season, but any way they get on base, gives them the opportunity to move up via their legs. The Jennies have 50 stolen bases this season which is the most in the MIAA and 20 more than their opponents. Deer leads the way having stolen 17 bases and Courtni Smith has 12 while Taylor Dames is a perfect 7-7. Leadoff Leaders • The Jennies are hitting .421 leading off an inning. Lauryn Deer is 21-36 to start and inning, a .583 average. Courtni Smith also has 12 hits and Alexis Koop is hitting .600, 9-15. Model of Consistency • Only one Jennie has started a game this season at catcher, that’s Allie Dishinger. That’s a trend that has continued for a while. Dishinger was the only Jennie that started at catcher last year as well, starting in 55 games. Dating back to 2016, Dishinger has started in 83 straight games at catcher. Walk-Off Winners • The Jennies have 12 wins this season and 1/3 of them have come in their final at bat. The Jennies have four walk-off wins this season including two last weekend when they defeated Concordia-St. Paul and Wayne State (Neb.) Free Softball • Part of the reason the Jennies have a number of walk off wins is that they are 3-0 in extra inning games this season. All three have come with the international tie-breaker rule in effect, which plays to their strength of team speed. The Jennies have made it a habit of scoring late. They have 13 runs in the seventh inning or later. They also have just one loss when the game is tied after six innings this season.
