II. Officers’ Reports President’s report – J. Anderson Friends of St Paul Hockey (“FSPH”) was awarded the contract to sell advertising in all Ramsey County arenas except Vandais Heights. Ramsey County fielded seven bids but awarded it to FSPH to keep the revenue in St. Paul and with St. Paul kids. SPCHA was told it would get a higher percentage of the sales because SPCHA provided the initial investment into the project, with the exact amount to be determined. Mike Pickett, former SPCHA Director of Communications, is now on the board of FSPH and is responsible for selling advertising. FSPH may want to direct how SPCHA spends the money. All existing agreements for the Highland Rink will be honored, including the agreement with Green Mill/Sweet Peas There is a tentative plan to move forward with another Highland rink sooner rather than later. The plan exists, but it is not yet ready for public release. FSPH is holding a volunteer appreciation night at Crooked Pint in Maplewood on April 20. SPCHA board is invited. J. Anderson will forward information to the Board. Overall, good end to the season. Three teams went to regionals, and the mite jamboree was a success. As of the Board meeting, SPCHA had received only 37 response to the coach survey that was emailed out. Most of the responses have been positive. Last year, we received 154. The end-ofthe-year coaching debriefs are not as effective without the surveys, so J. Anderson will send out a reminder email. VP Boys Hockey – P. Dzubnar No report

VP Girls Hockey – T. Alexander T. Alexander has received positive feedback on the girls’ coaches. There is already a lot of talk and excitement about next season. The numbers will likely be good, so SPCHA will need to be proactive about getting good coaches in place again for next year. Treasurer - J. Abraham The SPCHA association fee revenue is within $200 of the budgeted amount. This is great. Also, fundraising income generated an additional $10,000 in revenue, mostly due to a huge number of spruce top buy-outs. K. Murphy did a great job on collections this year. Skills development expense is, after taking into account expected invoices, will be $6000 below budget. Heartbreaker and Icebreaker tournament expenses are currently $26,000 under budget but the county has not yet billed SPCHA for ice time those weekends. SPCHA probably owes them around $20,000. Equipment and uniform expenses were $5000 less than budgeted. D. Axelson did a great job managing equipment this year. Teams got what they asked for, but Davi still brought it all in under budget. After taking out the expected invoices that are still to come, SPCHA will have about $50,000 in net revenue, which is approximately $32,000 more than the budgeted for $18,000 in net revenues. Great news. As a reminder, the fiscal year does not close until the end of April. The goal is always to have enough savings in the bank at the end of each season to cover ice time expenses for the following season. It seems that P. Dzubnar will owe J. Abraham a steak dinner, however SPCHA will reserve its judgment until the final revenue and expense numbers are in. D2 report: J. Abraham for J. Wright SPCHA helped D2 put on Bantam A regional tournament, and this went well. For next year, D2 will require each association to provide a person to serve on the D2 tournament committee. III.
Committee Reports
Director of Ops: K. Murphy K. Murphy is putting together a plan to re-work volunteer system for next season, and she will present it at the next Board meeting. There are only two members who have outstanding fees for this past season. If the fees are not paid, SPCHA will not allow registration for next season. Concessions officially ended March 5 with the Bantam A regional tournament. Ramsey County asked SPCHA to open March 18 for four hours and we did it and made $400 in concessions. Hockey Ops: C. LeClair C. Leclair is close to being able to run a shooting camp this summer. He has spoken with rink management to block off times when SPCHA can use the south rink. It will be a little difficult

this first year to see how much time the program will need. It looks like we will be given two hours a day, Tuesday through Thursday and maybe some evening times. Scott Bjugstad will be getting back to LeClair on times to hold a coach-the-coaches session. One of the biggest challenges for the shooting clinic is ensuring that it is staffed by coaches who can help kids with proper form. The goal would be to have it staffed by coaches who participated in Bjugstad’s training session, which will likely be held in April. LeClair would be interested in having team-specific skill development next year. For example, if a coach identifies a team weakness, the skill development team can run drills designed to address that weakness. One option would be to ask Pro Edge to have more communication with coaches before skills sessions. (P. Benick left at 7:46) (T. Alexander left at 7:49) Equipment: J. Abraham for D. Axelson SPCHA would like to have better quality socks for next year. D. Axelson is going to transition to goalies next year, so SPCHA will need someone to manage equipment. Also, puck return was not good this year; some buckets came back with only six pucks in them. Goalies: R. Magnuson SPCHA was under budget on the goalie training expense this year because the goalie skills team did not do a great job of scheduling sessions. R. Magnuson recommends that SPCHA see who else might be available for next year. OS also dropped the goalie skills team for similar reasons. The clinics and coaching sessions were good when the goalie training team showed up. R. Magnuson also recommends that we encourage coaches next year to use the goalie coaches when they are assigned to their practices; do not opt out. It will benefit the goalies and the teams over the long run. IV. Old business Last year, SPCHA agreed to pay Kirk Olimb $750 in compensation if the team parents paid the other $750. The parents did not react positive to that proposition. Olimb wants to coach Bantam A next year. He has good references and a strong recommendation from Nye. Olimb earned his $1500 compensation this year; he had to step in when head coach had a death in the family. Motion by Dzubnar that SPCHA pay Olimb $1500 for this season out of association budget; second by Abraham. Passed unanimously. V.
New business
An SPCHA parent has offered to coordinate a concussion screening and baseline testing session. SPCHA to look into it. Thank you to J. Scanlan, R. Magnuson, J. Dobbelmann, and P. Benick for service on the Board. Next month, SPCHA will seat the new members and vote on roles for the year. Motion by Dobbelmann to adjourn; second by Dobbelmann. Passed unanimously. Adjourned.
