10 And Under Committee Meeting Minutes – Thursday, June 9 Alpine Hills Swimming & Tennis Club NOTE: All minutes are final after approval by the committee and all committee decisions are subject to final approval by the Board. Committee Members Present: Nigel Pugh (chair), Todd Dissly, Andrea Barnes, Steve Chiu, Belinda Tsao, Bill Weber (speaker phone) Committee Members Absent: William Higgins, Patrick Rutz Staff Members Present: Summer Verhoeven Nigel Pugh, chair of the 10 and Under Committee called the meeting to order at 12 p.m. 1. Amendments to USTA Northern California Sanction Rules for 10 and Under Tennis: 1.1 Sanction Rule 3. A. - Sanction Deadlines and Fees The following motion was duly made and seconded: RESOLVED, that for sanction rule 3. A. that there is no sanction fee for 10 and Under Tournaments. The motion was approved by a vote of 5 in favor, 0 opposed, and no abstentions. RATIONALE, to encourage tournament directors to apply for 10 and Under tournaments by helping offset the cost of hosting the events. This fee will be reevaluated in six months to determine if a fee will be required. 1.2 Sanction Rule 4.E. – Sanction Rules for USTA NorCal Tournaments The following motion was duly made and seconded: RESOLVED, that for sanction rule 4.E that v. be added: v. Register Facility on 10andundertennis.com: all tournament sites must be registered on the 10andundertennis.com website. The motion was approved by a vote of 5 in favor, 0 opposed, and no abstentions. RATIONALE, to bring awareness to the community that these facilities are offering 10 and Under tennis at their facilities. 1.3 Sanction Rule 8. B. – USTA Northern California Tournament Fees The following motion was duly made and seconded: RESOLVED, that for sanction rule 8. B. for all 10 and Under tournaments, USTA NorCal will be credited the amount of $1 for each player entered in the tournament. The motion was approved by a vote of 5 in favor, 0 opposed, and no abstentions. RATIONALE, the committee will revaluate this fee at a later time, but wanted to keep the cost of the per player fee down to help reduce the entry fee for the player.
