Class 1

A Rag Doll

“Rag Time”

20 Marks

Make a rag doll suitable for a young child. Fully clothed, the doll must represent a decade within the last 100 years. Overall height no more than 25” (64cm) The doll and / or clothing to include hand embroidery. One item of clothing to be either knitted or crocheted. To be at 22 Orford Street by 3pm on 8th May. Staging will be by the Show Committee. Please collect exhibit between 5.30 and 6.30pm on Thursday 28th May

Class 2

A Tray cloth

“Traytastic”

Either using a modern or traditional method, create a tray cloth to celebrate our centenary. Cloth not to exceed overall measurement of 14 x 18” (35 x 45cm) including any edging. Must display a minimum of 3 different decorative techniques. To be at 22 Orford Street by 3pm Friday 8th May. Staging will be by the show committee. Please collect exhibit between 5.30 and 6.30pm on Thursday 28th May

“Jam and Jerusalem”

Co-operative entry (by two or more members) A fruit or vegetable based preserve A hand-written recipe for the preserve To be staged on a 14”(35cm) square board using appropriate props. Back not to exceed 16”(40cm) Preserve

Preserve and recipe to be at 22 Orford Street by 3pm Friday 8th May. These items will be returned to the WI at the showground on Tuesday 26th May for the staging and interpretation part of the judging. The staging to be completed by no more that two members between the hours of 10am and noon on that date. Please collect exhibit between 5.30 and 6.30pm on Thursday 28th May

Class 4

“Centenary”

A flower exhibit

Using only the WI colours of gold, white and green, create a celebratory fresh pedestal arrangement. Overall height maximum 72”(183cm), overall width maximum 25” (63cm). Accessories may be used, but must not dominate. Exhibiter to provide pedestal. The staging to be completed on site by no more that two members between the hours of 10am and noon on Tuesday 26th May. Exhibits may be moved by show committee after judging. Please collect exhibit between 5.30 and 6.30pm on Thursday 28th May

“2 to 1”

Dressmaking

Using two men’s shirts, create one embellished garment for an adult female. You must show reuse of some of the collar, cuff and button stand components. The garment may be enhanced using printing, fabric paint, embroidery (hand or machine) and the garment should be fit for purpose. The garment must consist of a minimum of 80% shirts and no more than 20% embellishment materials. To be at 22 Orford Street by 3pm Friday 8th May. Staging will be by the show committee. Please collect exhibit between 5.30 and 6.30pm on Thursday 28th May

Class 6

“President’s Corsage”

Silk flowers

Make a corsage for your President to wear at meetings. Using silk flowers in white, gold and green create a corsage no longer than 6”(15cm) overall length. To include a safety pin for attaching to the wearer. May include accessories. To be brought to 22 Orford Street by 3pm Friday 8th May Staging will be by the show committee. Please collect exhibit between 5.30 and 6.30pm on Thursday 28th May

Notes for Entrants Please read carefully 1. Entrance fee: £5 per class to be judged (£25 for all 6 classes). One entry per class per WI allowed for judging and must be clearly labelled with WI name on a small label attached out of initial sight. 2. 4. All Classes other than class 3 to be staged by the Suffolk Show committee. 5. Class 1, in addition to the official judging shall be voted by visitors for the Public Choice award. 6. All items must be the exhibitor’s own work and not previously exhibited at a County Show. 7. All items displayed at owner’s risk. The committee can take no responsibility for any loss or damage. Please be aware that items will be displayed in a damp marquee. 8. Classes, where appropriate, will be marked according to the NFWI Handbook, “On with the Show” (revised edition 2012). All revisions are available from 22 Orford Street or on NFWI Moodle, please contact Gill Denny for advice on registering for the Moodle. Please refer to the relevant sections when preparing your entry. 9. The judges’ decision is FINAL. If any item is considered “Not as Schedule” then no marks will be awarded, and comments only given.

10. Entry forms to be sent to 22 Orford Street by Friday 6th February 2015. Late entries will not be accepted. 11. Entries that arrive after the closing date/time will not be judged. 12. In the unlikely event of having to withdraw your entry, please advise Gill Denny IN WRITING no later than 30th April 2015 for classes to be judged at Orford Street and at least ONE WEEK before the show for the flowers. 13. Exhibitors are asked to vacate the marquee immediately after staging their exhibits. Children or other unauthorised persons are not allowed in the marquee while staging is in progress. 14. Exhibits to be removed on Thursday 28th May between 5.30 and 6.30pm and not before to comply with the Suffolk Agricultural Association regulations. Vehicular access to the showground is not allowed until after 7pm. The most successful way of collecting items is to park in the Bucklesham Road car park and carry your exhibits from the marquee. Some members find bringing a wheelbarrow in their car useful for this. 15. Any questions should be directed to Erika Wilkin, Committee Chairman.
