A LOOK AHEAD: The Eagles are headed to Buffalo, N.Y. to take Time/Result on the Bulls of the University at Buffalo this Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Alumni Gym. EMU is looking to get back on the right track after NTS having its four-match winning streak snapped last Friday at NIU. NTS LAST TIME OUT: EMU traveled to Northern Illinois University for W, 24-22 its Mid-American Conference opener last Friday, Feb. 4. After a W, 42-0 slow start in which the Huskies took the first five matches, EMU L, 6-29 responded with Nick Hendrick’s pin at 165-lbs. A subsequent win by Chris Eggert had the Eagles clawing back, however a loss at 184W, 38-3 lbs. left EMU coming up just short in a 21-18 loss. L, 3-34 “We got out-wrestled the first five weight classes and we lost the close ones again,” Head Coach Derek DelPorto said. “It put us L, 13-24 in a tough position for our last five weight classes, but our two L, 6-32 seniors stepped up and both got pins. Eggert and Whit won their NTS matches to close the gap, but unfortunately it was too little too late.“ Canceled W, 34-6 ROAD TRIPPIN’: EMU hits the road for yet another contest away L, 15-19 from the friendly confines of Bowen Field House as they prepare to take on the Buffalo Bulls in Mid-American Conference play. W, 29-6 “The key for us will be conditioning and building a lead,” DelPorto said of Wednesday’s match against the Bulls.
