14th June 2016 Dear Parent /Guardian, I am writing to inform you about some changes to Y12 students’ timetable up to the end of this term. Monday 20th June: S.Peter’s School sports’day No lessons at S.Peter’s apart from BTEC courses. No lessons at WGHS, normal lessons at St Edmunds. Tuesday 21st June: Staff INSET day All Y12 students will be working from home or taking the opportunity to attend university open days. We have encouraged students to check, on a regular basis, the calendar of university open days on the opendays.com website. It is important that they take the opportunity to attend as many open days as possible during this less busy period of the year. Students have been made aware of the procedure for applying for an open day visit and should only book their place once they have received our approval. No lessons at WGHS/St Edmunds Wednesday 22nd June: Dimension Day Home Study or Personal Statement support. No lessons at WGHS/St Edmunds. Thursday 23rd June Normal lessons at S.Peter’s and St Edmunds. No lessons at WGHS. Friday 24th June: School Eucharist: St.Peter’s Day School Eucharist, 9 am – in school Afternoon – home study. No lessons at WGHS. Morning lessons only at St Edmunds. Monday 27th June: Higher Education UCAS Convention – Birmingham NEC. This is an ideal opportunity for students to further their research and gain valuable advice and information about higher education courses. Over 130 universities, colleges and other related stands will be represented throughout the day. Students are given one day “off timetable” to attend the UCAS convention. Students are asked to make their own way to Birmingham NEC (Birmingham International railway station) and will be expected to complete some research in preparation for the event. The dress code is smart casual. Students will need to purchase their own return tickets, at the approximate off-peak cost of £7.00 (available on the 9.42am train from Wolverhampton to Birmingham International). Lunch can be purchased from the restaurant facilities at the NEC. Although this is not an officially organised school visit, an attendance register will be taken at 10.30am at the meeting point. Students will be free to make their own way home once they have collected sufficient information to support their future decisions. Although every care will be taken to ensure
the safety of students during school visits there is always an element of risk. You may wish, therefore, to take out additional cover for accident or loss of/damage to property as an additional safeguard.
