Be empowered to help through the Disaster Response Organization. Volunteers are needed. Should this ministry interest you, we invite you to register for Early Response Training.
United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) Early Response Team (ERT) Basic Training is Nov. 19th, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at Harrisburg United Methodist Church. You must be at least 18 years old. The class promptly begins at 9am. Doors open at 8:15am. UMCOR’s participants learn the basics of disaster response, including how to stabilize and secure homes safely, and how to work effectively with survivors and others on the response team. The New Community Sunday School Class is starting a new study The new book is part of the "Be" series by the David C. Cook. The new study is Be Joyful (Philippians) by Warren W. Wiersbe. Through this book, the class will be looking at the book of Philippians. Discussion that in spite of Paul’s dire situation as a prisoner a Roman jail, Paul`s letter to the church at Philippi overflows with joy. Discover Paul's secret to finding joy in Christ as Dr. Warren Wiersbe leads you on a verse-by-verse tour through the book of Philippians. Take notice of Paul's singleminded focus remains on Jesus and learn how your joy can also be complete in Christ. Should this study sound interesting to you, you are invited to join the class. The class meets by the coffee pot in the Fellowship Hall at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday. Yes, if you like, the coffee is brewing!

Get creative and decorate your car's trunk or truck bed for Halloween. It can be spooky or fun, intricate or simple, themed or just something you found on Pinterest. You can provide the candy or use some from donations from our great church members. Please arrive a few minutes early to set up your creation! Our goal is 15 trunks, so please let us know if you plan to participate! A sweet way to serve our community and to bring new people to our church! Look for the Teal Pumpkin at Trunk or Treat The Kind Hands Kids’ small group will have a teal pumpkin Trunk at Trunk or Treat, here’s why… The Teal Pumpkin Project®, which launched as an international campaign in 2014 by Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE), provides an alternative for kids with food allergies, as well as other children for whom candy is not an option, and keeps Halloween a fun, positive experience. Kind Hands has made craft kits to hand out at Trunk or treat. Kind Hands also are shown on the Teal Pumpkin Project National Map. Good work kids! 2

Flood Bucket Challenge The Missions committee has announced a Flood Bucket Challenge to the HUMC congregation. The challenge is to raise money for 65 buckets for hurricane flood relief over the next 3 weeks, that’s $1,625. For the next few weeks there will be a bucket in the Sanctuary for your donations. Help us to reach out to those affected by this devastating storm.

Flowers Calendar 2017 Flowers add beauty to our worship. Cost to place flowers in the Sanctuary is $50 for both arrangements. Should you wish to place flowers in the Sanctuary, in honor or in memory, call or stop by the church office (704-455-2311). You will are welcome to take the flowers after the 11:00 worship serve. YES! It might seem early to advertise Christmas Services, however, a service has been added to Christmas Eve and yes, we’ll be worshipping on Christmas Day!
Christmas Eve Worship 5:00 pm Worship around the Manger An informal, family friendly service geared toward preschool aged children. Bring your whole family (yes even the baby who may cry) to worship and wonder at the gift of a baby into the world! Communion will be served and we will have (age appropriate) “candle” light.
7:00 pm Traditional Candlelight and Communion Nursery will be provided for children under 3.
11:00 pm A quiet and contemplative service of Candlelight and Communion No child care provided.
Christmas Day Worship 10 AM (One Service ONLY) Come and Celebrate the greatest gift God gave the World! No Sunday School this day.
