XVII NW ARKANSAS MOUNTAIN BIKE CHAMPIONSHIPS DEVIL’S DEN STATE PARK SEPTEMBER 19TH, 2015 PEDALHEADS!!!!! CELEBRATE 27 YEARS OF MOUNTAIN BIKING AT DEVIL’S DEN STATE PARK!! Devil’s Den State Park is proud to celebrate 27 years of mountain biking. It started in 1989 with the first bike event, and it has become a September tradition. Remember to thank our sponsors; most have supported the event for the past 27 years. Saturday’s traditional race starts in Campground A. Trials are Saturday evening near the pool area. Also, racers and volunteers are eligible to win swag donated by bike shops and businesses that support the event. All events are spectator friendly. And remember, this is a point series event for the Arkansas Mountain Bike Championship Series. This race is USA Cycling sanctioned #2015-2765. USA Cycling rules will be followed. CAT I must have a USA Cycling license to compete and you must have your license at registration. Annual licenses will be sold at registration. CAT 2 and CAT 3 may race with a temporary license for an additional $10. All participants must also hold an AMBCS license, which is $5. ADVENTURE SUBARU, THE FRIENDS OF DEVIL'S DEN STATE PARK INC., THE BANK OF FAYETTEVILLE, TAILWIND CYCLISTS, JACK & JO ANNE MILLER, THE SCOTT /DEFOLIART CHARITABLE MOUNTAIN BIKE FUND AND LINDSEY & ASSOCIATES REALITY have donated prize money. ARKANSAS STATE PARKS has donated complimentary cabins and camping accommodations as race prizes. Money and prizes will be divided between the men and women CAT 1 division and CAT 1 trials division. TAILWIND CYCLISTS’ $200 will go to the winners of the women’s and men’s CAT 2 senior division. CAT 1 cash and prizes are based on class size with a 90% payback 40% deep. See www.ambcs.com for CAT 1 payout. CAT 2 and 3 are awarded 3 deep. The park’s campgrounds, cabins, bathhouses, café and store will be open. Normal café operating hours are from 8am to 4pm. The nearest groceries and gasoline are in Winslow and West Fork (20 minutes). Cabin and camping reservations (1-479-7613325) can be made daily from 8am to 5pm. All campsites are reservable. We expect to be at 100% occupancy; don’t be left out. 2:00pm to 3:00pm TRIALS REGISTRATION: Meet in the Ridge Runner café pavilion. 3:00pm to 6:00pm OBSERVED TRIALS: Watch this thrilling event as skilled riders jump over man-made and natural objects. This event will take place next to the lake / cafe area. Participants need to be there 15-minutes early for a riders meeting. 6:00pm to 8:00pm Awards for the race and trial competition also swag and food! All competitors and volunteers need to meet at the café pavilion for awards, swag, food, pickle pops, and ice cream. Darrell Cox will fire-up the charcoal grill to cook hamburgers. For homemade ice cream, you need to bring a spoon and bowl; you have to crank to eat!!
