2010 TEMPERANCE HILL PINOT NOIR ABOUT This bottling is about great relationships, patience and good fortune. When we were approached with the opportunity to purchase fruit from this old vine vineyard, it was obvious what we wanted to do with it! Temperance Hill single vineyard wines are some of my favorite in the Willamette Valley. This was our opportunity to make one of our own. WINEMAKING NOTES

The grapes were hand sorted and 100% destemmed. They fermented in individual lots and went through a cold soak for 10-15 days. After racking to barrel, the wines aged for 18 months in French Oak. Coopers: Sylvain, Rousseau, Saint Martin, Damy, Billon, Cadus, Gillet, Gamba and Vadai. This wine is unfined and filtered. TASTING NOTES — Chris Blanchard, MS The Temperance Hill is intense in the nose. More than ever, the wine has a perceived minerality and could be a dead ringer for Burgundy, perhaps Nuits-St.-George or Gevrey-Chambertin. It has a classic cooler climate nose of green tea, red bell pepper, crimini mushroom, red cherry, raspberry and beet root. Very unique in its mix of spices, red fruits and chalkiness in the nose. Can’t wait to taste this. The texture is like velour or cashmere. It coats the mouth with rich fruit and brown spices, but also has bright acidity and a wonderful stemmy finish. There is an herbal aspect that reminds me of eating a blackberry that is 3/4 overripe and 1/4 slightly underripe. I would guarantee you could fool a seasoned sommelier in a blind tasting of Burgundy vs. Oregon. Such a wonderful wine to contemplate! I was thinking that the perfect pairing would be a preparation of grilled salmon served over a bed of pureed peas, edamame and mint. I love the complexity and nerve of this wine in the long lasting finish.
