Campus Chalking
Date: Sunday, October 13th, 2013 Time: 12:00pm; ALL teams must check in by noon Location: Start and end in front of the Bovee University Center Participation: Maroon Cup and Golden Goblet Objective: Homecoming chalking is a way for groups to collaborate and come up with a creative sidewalk chalk design incorporating the theme and spirit of Homecoming. It also serves as a great way to spread Homecoming spirit across campus! Rules: 1. Homecoming chalking starts with check in at 12:00pm in front of the Bovee University Center where groups will be given their chalk containers as well as maps with their designated chalking areas. 2. Groups will be assigned Homecoming events to chalk about. 3. Groups must return to the starting point in front of the Bovee University Center by 2:00pm to check out and to return their chalk container. Every team must check in and out. 4. Teams must submit a photo of their chalking to be judged via Instagram by no later than 2PM. Failure to do so will result in loss of points. For every 5 minutes a team is late, 5 points will be deducted from their overall points. 5. Tag @CMUActivites in the caption along with #RSOName. 6. Participants should include: •The Homecoming Theme (Forever we are Maroon and Gold) •Their Subtheme (Wisdom, Friendship, Virtue) •Central Michigan University •Name of the RSO/ Team •Specific information about a Homecoming Event occurring during the week 7. Spray chalk is NOT allowed 8. Words and pictures must be APPROPRIATE. Any profanity, discriminatory remarks, criticism of other groups, or anything else deemed offensive may result in disqualification from this event and others. Scoring: 1st Place: 50 Points 2nd Place: 40 Points 3rd Place: 30 Points Participation: 15 Points

Campus Chalking ***RAIN PLAN*** If it is raining or weather is inclement, there will be sheets of roll paper available at Finch Fieldhouse and your team will be able to make a banner instead. Same rules apply. The banner must include: - Homecoming theme - Subtheme chosen for chalking event - Central Michigan University - Name of your RSO - Specific information about a certain Homecoming Event occurring during the week. Banners will be due by 2PM (a committee member will be at Finch Fieldhouse to collect banners). Check In for banner making will be at Finch Fieldhouse at 12:00 noon, not the Bovee University Center. Checkout will be at 2:00 pm in Finch as well. As with chalking, for every 5 minutes a team is late, 5 points will be deducted from their overall points *If it starts to rain after chalking starts, everyone will receive participation points

The Quest for Central Spirit th Date: Sunday, October 13 , 2013 Time: 5pm Location: The Quest will begin and end at Finch Fieldhouse Participation: Maroon Cup and Golden Goblet General Rules: 1. You must be on a Homecoming team in order to participate. 2. Team must travel together on foot. No cars will be allowed. 3. There can be no less than 4 members per team. 4. You will be handed clues that will lead you to complete roadblock activities. No clue will lead you out of the main square of campus: From East Campus Drive to West Campus Drive; and from Broomfield to Bellows. 5. This event is a RACE. Each individual roadblock activity will be timed and the team with the shortest cumulative time will receive 1st place; the team with the second shortest time will receive 2nd place. The first team to return to Finch Fieldhouse will receive a deduction off their total time. 6. Each member of a team must participate in at least one of the roadblock activities. Individual Event Descriptions: 1. Start at Finch Fieldhouse: Each team must elect one member to be covered in duct tape. The member will be covered from shoulders to shoes sticky side out. Teammates must stand behind a marked line and shoot Q-‐tips through a straw at the teammate covered in duct tape. The team member covered in duct tape must stand in one place and not move. When a team gets 10 Q-‐tips to stick to their teammate they may receive their first clue. Minimum of four team members must participate. 2. Location 1: Gazebo Roadblock: Teams must correctly complete three, 4-‐Picture-‐1-‐Word puzzles. Minimum of three team members must participate. 3. Location 2: Kiva Theater Roadblock: In the Kiva there are cards located on the back of each seat. Teams must find a card that reads “virtus.” If the card does not say “virtus” you must reattach it to the chair and keep searching. Minimum of four team members must participate. 4. Location 3: Outside the EHS Building Roadblock: Teams must knock down a pyramid of pop cans with only a rubber band. All team members must stay behind the marked line to shoot the rubber bands. Each pop can must be knocked down before the team can move on. A minimum of three members must participate.

5. Location 4: Outside the Market Roadblock: Famous couples are written on cards located around the pond. Teams must find cards that match to form a couple and draw a picture of them on the sidewalk near by. A minimum of two team members must participate. Vine opportunity: Make a vine of two members of your team acting like the famous couple you found, include the picture you drew. (2-‐second deduction) 6. Location 5: Volleyball Courts Outside of Towers Roadblock: Teams must retrieve a clothespin clipped to the volleyball net. Each team will be given a blanket. The sand is lava and the blanket is a magic lava floatation device. If any team member touches the lava they must begin again. Teams must journey to the net and retrieve the clothespin and then journey back to safety. A minimum of four team members must participate. 7. Location 6: The Seal Roadblock: Using a straw teams must transport 20 M&Ms for from one location to another. M&Ms must be color coded and transported to their respective colored plates. A minimum of four members must participate. Vine opportunity: Make a vine of at least three members of your team cheering say “fire up chips” by the seal. (2-‐second deduction) 8. Finish: Return to Finch Vine opportunity: Make a vine of your team running up the stairs to Finch as if they were Rocky Balboa and they had just finished training. (2-‐second deduction) (3-‐second deduction if someone on your team hums the tune of the Rocky theme song) 9. The first team to return to Finch: 2-‐ second time deduction! Scoring: 1st place: 50 points 2nd place: 40 points 3rd place: 30 points Participation: 15 points

Change for Change Date: Begins Sunday, October 13, 2013 and ends Friday, October 18, 2013 Time: Anytime Location: Respective Locations Participation: Maroon Cup, Golden Goblet, Greek Cup Objective: To have students raise money for charity and to add an element of goodwill and service to Homecoming Week festivities. This is less of a competition than it is an effort to get groups to raise money, but a bonus reward will be given to the team with the most change. Rules: 1. RSOs will provide their own jars/cans to decorate. Each jar should include decorations representing their organization’s theme and Homecoming’s theme as a whole. 2. Jars should be based in a central location for the organization, but may also be brought to events during Homecoming week. 3. The jars should be brought to the UC Student Life Office by 3pm on Friday, October 18th. 4. In order to be counted, all coins must already be rolled in official bank coin holders. 5. The money is based strictly on a total…this is not a “penny war.” Special Note: All money raised through Change for Change will be donated to United Way. Instagram Competition Date: Sunday, October 13th at 12pm through Friday, October 19th at 11pm Location: All Homecoming Events Participation: Maroon Cup and Golden Goblet, Greek Cup Objective: This event gives teams the opportunity to share their homecoming pictures and memories while earning points for their RSO. Rules: 1. Throughout the week of homecoming teams will have the ability to take pictures
with their smartphones and post them to Facebook and Instagram. 2. All posts must contain the RSO name as well as tag the @CMUHomecoming Instagram Account. 3. A minimum of 2 pictures must be posted to the Instagram account as well as to Facebook each day of competition in order to receive participation points. Scoring: Scoring will be based on participation: 15 Points

Maroon Mania
Date: Monday, October 14, 2013 Time: Sign in at 5:30 PM, Maroon Mania begins at 6:00 PM and ends at 7:00 PM Location: Begins and Ends at Finch Fieldhouse Participation: Maroon Cup , Golden Goblet, Greek Cup Event Summary: 1. Maroon Mania is a photo scavenger hunt mediated through the social photography application Instagram; as such, each competing team must have one member with a smartphone and an Instagram account. 2. Competing teams will receive an envelope at the Pre-‐Event Sign In containing a numbered list of locations and/or feats to be photographed. 3. Teams will be dismissed and allowed to look at this list at a designated time, as well as have all of their photos sent in by a designated time. This specific time will be announced at Check-‐In. 4. Photos will be scored by judges for bonus points. Pre-‐Event Sign In: 1. Competing teams must sign in at Finch Fieldhouse at 6:40pm. 2. Teams are not limited to a specific number of members, but each team must have only one designated photographer. 3. Each team’s Photographer will be required to register as such at the event; the Photographer’s name and Instagram handle will be recorded to better track which team’s submissions are which. 4. Any team found to be utilizing more than one photographer will be disqualified and will not earn points in this competition. 5. Once all teams have been registered, each team will receive the Envelope containing the goal photographs. 6. All teams will be dismissed and allowed to open the envelope and begin the event at a designated time to be given at the event (between 7:00pm and 7:10pm); any team found to leave early or open the envelope early will be disqualified and will not earn points in this competition. Maroon Mania Rules: 1. Once the Envelope has been opened, groups are free to accomplish the goal photographs as they see fit. 2. All goal photographs will be located on campus. 3. When a goal photograph is taken, the Photographer must label the photo accordingly.

4. The format for labeling photos is as follows: [RSO] [Goal Number] #CMUMAROONMANIA For example: If you were the Photographer from Ronan Hall and you just took goal picture number 8, you would Instagram your photo with the caption: Ronan 8 #CMUMAROONMANIA Up to three multiple goals may be accomplished within the same photograph— however, the photograph may not be a composite of multiple separate photographs (accomplished using an application like Pic Stitch). Caption multi-‐ goal photos as above, but with each goal number: Ronan 8 12 20 #CMUMAROONMANIA 5. Judges will score the photos according to the specifications below:
Photo Scoring: • Each successfully completed goal photograph will earn one (1) point. • Completing two goals in one photograph will earn three (3) points. • Completing three goals in one photograph will earn seven (7) points. • Each photograph that does not accomplish its goal will not be scored. • Each photograph submitted beyond the time limit will not be scored. • Bonus points (+5 each) will be awarded in the following categories: o Best Campus-‐Based Photograph o Best Student-‐Based Photograph o Funniest Photograph o Most Golden Photograph o Most Impressive Photograph o Most Scholarly Photograph o Most Spirited Photograph Scoring: 1st Place: 50 points 2nd Place: 40 points 3rd Place: 30 points Participation: 15 points.

Trivia Challenge
Date: Tuesday, October 15th, 2013 Time: Team Check-‐In: 5:30pm and Start Time: 6:00pm Location: Finch Fieldhouse Participation: Maroon Cup , Golden Goblet , Greek Cup Objective: Members will compete as a team to test their knowledge of CMU and the theme through correctly answering a series of Trivia Questions. Rules: 1. Teams may not have more than six members participating. a. All six team members must remain consistent throughout the competition. 2. Maroon Cup and Golden Goblet participants will compete simultaneously; however, they will advance based on their own competition bracket. 3. Judges consisting of Committee Members and Homecoming Ambassadors will be assigned to a team or groups of teams. a. The judges will be responsible for recording correct and incorrect answers. i. Judges will have final say in answer accuracy. b. Judges also have the responsibility of monitoring teams fair play. i. This includes no communication between members outside of your team and the use of cell phones and other electronics are strictly prohibited during play. ii. Should a team member need to use an electronic device, they must exit the facility for the duration of the usage. iii. Should any of the fair play rules be violated, the entire team will be disqualified and will earn zero points towards the Trivia Challenge. 4. Every team will be provided with a white board and dry erase marker. They will have approximately 30 seconds to come to a consensus and write their response on the white board. a. The MC will give a ten second warning. b. The team must write clearly and hold up the response for the judge to see after time has expired. c. The MC will give the correct answer after the time has expired and judges signal that their teams have finished writing. d. Any questions that go unanswered will be scored as incorrect. 5. There will be four rounds with questions as follows: a. Round 1: 20 questions worth 1 point each b. Round 2: 10 Questions worth 2 points each c. Round 3: 10 Questions worth 3 points each d. Round 4: 5 Questions worth 4 points each

6. The scorekeeper will record the scores of all teams. a. At the end of each round, all the teams’ scores will be calculated. b. All teams will participate in the first three rounds. c. At the end of the 3rd round, the top five teams overall will progress to the 4th round. d. The points will remain cumulative throughout the entire game and the team with the overall highest score will win. e. In case of a tie, the teams will be given a question pertaining to a specific number and whichever team is closest to the number without going over will win.

Homecoming Field Games th Date: Thursday, October 17 , 2013 Time: 5:30 p.m. Location: Between the Finch Fieldhouse and HP building Participation: Maroon Cup, Golden Goblet, Greek Cup Objective: The events are designed to allow teams to cheer, work together, and build school spirit in a relay of fun and physical events. This event will also be run simultaneously with the Chippewa Food Relay. Rules: 1. Teams will be made up of 10 people; those teams who do not have 10 people may have people compete twice. The minimum amount of people a team needs to compete is five. 2. A team member may only compete twice after everyone on his/her team has participated in an event; this must be figured out beforehand. 3. The team will decide before the games begin the order in which the team members will compete and what events each member will participate in. These events include: - Three Legged Race (2 people) -‐ Obstacle Course (2 people) - Balloon Race (5 people) -‐ Balloon Toss & Drop (2 people) - Egg Race (1 person) -‐ Sack Race (1 person) 4. Teams will compete in heats of 2-‐4; competitions will be drawn at random. 5. Although some teams will be competing directly against one another, teams must remember that they are competing in heats; it is more important to have a better time overall than a better time against another team in a single heat. 6. The judges will determine if the event has been done completely and correctly before the team moves on to the next event. 7. If a team member breaks the rules at any specific event he/she will receives 20 seconds to their team’s time. 8. The team cannot split-‐up; all members must stay together before moving on to the next event. 9. Team members may not interfere with the progress of another team. 10. All events will be held between Finch Fieldhouse and HP building. 11. In case of rain field games will be moved to inside the Finch Fieldhouse.

Field Games Specific Rules Race Timing: A starter will begin each heat by signaling “Ready….set” and the sound of a blow horn will go off. There will be a timer for each event in a heat. Timers (people who are keeping time) will begin their timers as soon as the blow horn is signaled and stop the timers as soon as the final competitor from the last event crosses the finish line. Logistics: A. All events in the relay will be measured and marked so all the competitors and volunteers are aware of the start and finish. B. The team with the fastest overall time from the relay will win first place; the team with the second fastest time will win second place and so on.
1. Three-‐legged Race (2 people) At the sound of the blow horn two teammates will stand next to each other tied together at the ankle. The object is to use their “three” legs and race from the indicated starting point to the finish line as quickly as possible having the best overall time. When finished race over and tag the next person to start the next event. 2. Balloon Race (5 people) Five team members will have to pass an inflated balloon from one to another without using their hands. If the balloon touches the ground then the balloon must be returned to the start of the line and the team will have to start again. The object of the game is to get the balloon from the starting point to the finish. After getting to the finish the must race over and tag the next person to start the next event. 3. Egg Race (1 person) After being tagged one person must dress in all the clothing and accessories provided,(teammates may assist them) once fully dressed said teammate must carefully place egg on spoon and travel quickly as possible while balancing the egg on the spoon from indicated start to finish lines. If the egg drops and is broken a new egg will be provided. Once that teammate has reached the finish they must race over and tag next person to start next event. 4. Balloon Toss and Drop (2 people) After being tagged two people must stand on the specific outlined space that are a certain meter apart from each other. There will be a bucket of water balloons on the side of one of the outlined spaces. The person who stands by the bucket will be the person who tosses the water balloon and the other person the catcher and place it in the empty bucket beside them. The object of the game is to successfully throw and catch six water balloons and place them in the opposite bucket. Once this has been completed they must race over and tag the next person to start next event. 5. Obstacle Course ( 2 people)

After being tagged, going one at a time, one team member must work his way through the obstacle course, finishing with throwing the football through the hula hoop. Next team member starts once previous team member gets his/her football through the hoop. Once they are both finished they must race over and tag the next person to start next event. 6. Sack Race (1 Person) After being tagged one team member must scurry to get themselves into the laundry bag and hop their way from start to finish. Scoring: 1st place: 50 points 2nd place: 40 points 3rd place: 30 points Participation: 15 points

Chippewa Food Relay Date: Thursday, October 17, 2013 Time: 5:30 pm Location: Finch Fieldhouse Participation: Maroon Cup, Golden Goblet, Greek Cup Objective: This event gives teams the opportunity to get in the Homecoming spirit and earn points for their RSO with no preparation in a time-‐based competition. This event will also be run simultaneously with the Homecoming Field Games. Rules: 1. Each RSO will be allowed no more than 10 participants. Those RSO’s with less than 10 participants may have team members eat or drink more than one item, however these members must stay in order and cannot eat or drink two items in a row. 2. There will be two committee members or Ambassadors at each table to keep track of time and to give team members the signal to move from item to item. 3. Four teams will participate at a time, two per table. 4. Teams will be given 2 minutes to decide which members will eat or drink which items. 5. When a team is called forward they must start on one side of the table, while the other team starts on the opposite side. 6. When given the signal, all four teams will start the relay. The foods for the event are as follows: a. Central Cereal: Participants must eat a small bowl of cereal with a spoon. b. Golden Corn: Participants must be fed a small bowl of corn by another team member. c. Butterscotch Pudding: Participants must eat a small bowl of pudding without using their hands. d. Chocolate Candy: Participants must put on a pair of gloves and unwrap the chocolate before eating it. e. Kool-‐Aid: Participants must drink a cup of Kool-‐Aid through a straw. f. Ritz Crackers: Participants must eat a stack of 8 crackers. 7. This event is timed. When given the signal to start the relay, your time will also be started. 8. On the bottom of each plate, bowl, or cup will be a word or phrase; teams must arrange those words to form a question and its answer. The time will stop when you tell the judge the answer to the word scramble.

Chippewa Rock Rally
Date: Friday, October 18th, 2013 Time: 8:00pm (Check-‐in by 6:15pm) Participation: Maroon Cup Location: Plachta Auditorium Objectives: Work together as a team to create a dance or skit that directly relates to the theme of Homecoming: “Forever Maroon and Gold: Friendship, Virtue, Wisdom” Rules: 1. Teams must check-‐in no later than 6:15pm in Warriner Hall outside of Plachta Auditorium with the Rock Rally Coordinator in order to receive points for participation in the event. 2. Each team will be given a seven (7) minute time limit, which will include set up and tear down of any props or backdrops. Going over the time limit will be cause for an automatic five (5) points. 3. Teams must submit their music on a CD to the Office of Student Activities and Involvements no later than 5:00pm on Friday, October 11th. The CD’s will be marked with the time that they were submitted. Any late CD’s will be cause for an automatic loss of 10pts. 4. Teams may change the order of their songs or edit the songs up until Wednesday, October 16th however; the songs turned in previously to the Office of Student Activities and Involvements must be the songs that are used. If different songs are used, that will result in disqualification from the competition. 5. Songs and movements must NOT contain profanity or lewd gestures. 6. Students who wish to perform with more than one organization are allowed to perform with no more than 2 teams, but are not allowed to hold a leading role in both. 7. Glitter is not allowed in Plachta Auditorium and may not be used during any team’s performance. 8. Judging will be based on theme inclusion, creativity, choreography, and spirit and energy. Judges will have the final say in point totals. Two additional ways to earn points during this event are the Best Dressed award, which will be awarded by the judges for the best costume, and Team Spirit award, which the audience will be able to vote on during the event. Scoring: 1st Place: 70 points 2nd Place: 60 points 3rd Place: 50 points

CMU Homecoming Parade Date: Saturday, October 19th, 2013 Time: Check-‐in is 9:30AM-‐10:15AM. The parade will leave at 11:00AM and should last no longer than an hour and a half. Location: Check-‐in is in Lot #22 next to the Towers Complex. Please enter from West Campus Drive. Participation: Maroon Cup Objective: The Homecoming Parade is a way for groups both on campus and throughout the community to come together and show their Chippewa pride through floats and various methods. This is also an opportunity to show off to the community as the community members will be lining the streets to watch the parade. Rules: RSO’s must apply to be in the parade. The Homecoming Parade Application can be found in the Forms section on OrgSync. Applications are due Friday, October 10th by 5:00PM. Every RSO participating in the Homecoming parade is also required to read through the Parade Packet for a complete list of rules and guidelines. The Parade Packet can be found in the Files section on OrgSync under the Homecoming Documents folder. Supplies: Supplies to make a float – If you plan on making a float, you will need to provide your own car to pull the float. The Office of Student Life will pay up to $100.00 for each RSO when float supplies are ordered through Valley Decorating Company. Supply books can be found in the Office of Student Life for viewing, or can be accessed at: http://www.valleydecorating.com/paradefloat.html Order forms are available in the Files section on OrgSync under the Homecoming Documents folder. Each RSO wishing to purchase float supplies needs to print off the order forms, fill them out, and turn them into the Office of Student Life, Bovee UC Room 101, by Wednesday, October 3rd, 2012 by 5:00PM.

Judging: The floats will be judged in five different categories: Creativity, Spirit, Design, Best Use of Theme, and Overall. Each category is worth ten points. These points do not go into the overall points added up for the Maroon Cup. The points awarded for the Parade are simply used to determine the Parade winner. Whichever team has the most overall points will place first in the Parade, the team with the second highest overall score will place second and so on. Scoring: 1st Place: 70 Points 2nd Place: 60 Points 3rd Place: 50 Points Participation: 35 Points

CMU Homecoming Miles for Medals 5k Race Date: Saturday, October 19th, 2013 Time: 5k Run begins at 8:00am; Registration open now online at the Special Olympics at CMU Webpage or you can register on race day beginning at 7am Location: Beginning and ending at Finch Field House Participants: Maroon Cup and Golden Goblet Objective: This event allows teams to support Special Olympics Michigan and get in the Homecoming Spirit before the parade and game, all while earning some last minute points for their RSOs. Rules: 1. Each RSO will be allowed no more than 10 participants that can count for points. 2. Each participant must be registered for the race. Running bandit will not count. 3. RSOs must participate in the 5k run rather than the 1-‐mile run/walk. 4. Each participant must obey all race rules or forfeit Maroon Cup points for his or her team. Scoring: Participation: 5 points per person (up to 10 people)
