In this micro-course, we’ll work through the problems on the ACT English exam that require the student to make editorial decisions about the passages. We will talk about single word corrections, including transitions and redundancy, and then move on to answering questions about the author’s intent in the overall passage and the best way to order sentences and paragraphs.

Sessions:
In this micro-course, we will work through the process of writing a high-scoring ACT essay. This will include reviewing basic ACT essay concepts such as structure and thesis statements; analyzing a sample essay prompt to develop examples and counter-examples; and discussing the more particular details that separate a ‘good’ ACT essay from a ‘great’ ACT essay.

Sessions:
In this micro course, students will work through common problem types including: rate, function, simultaneous equations, percent, weird symbol, ratio, and percent problems. We will also review core concepts such as plug and chug and ISME.

In this micro-course, students will explore the boundaries of ACT trigonometry from trigonometric relationships to graphical representations. Additionally, students will receive an introduction to the nuanced, less-frequently tested concepts as well as guidelines to interpret and manipulate provided formulae.

Sessions:
In this micro-course, we’ll look at the prose fiction passage of the ACT Reading exam, which presents unique challenges separate from the other passages. We’ll talk about the importance of knowing not only the main idea of paragraphs, but understanding the inner thoughts and feelings of characters in the selection.

Reading: Advanced Question Strategy In this micro-course, we will tackle the most challenging reading questions - those questions that deal with inference and nuance. Inference and nuance questions can appear in many forms, but in each case these tricky problems will ask you to make a small assumption about the viewpoint of either the author of the passage or a character within the passage.

Math: Advanced Concepts ACT math is a unique creature! ACT has found a way to trap and trick you with the simplest math concepts and made some of the difficult concepts seem almost impossible. This micro-course will help you practice ruthless elimination of answers, spot important details, in a pile of information, know when to create a visual for your problem, and dig out what the question is really asking.

Science: Experiments and Charts & Graphs
Sessions:
In this micro-course, we will look at challenging experimental and charts & graphs questions from the ACT Science test. These questions go beyond understanding the experimental conditions, and reading the chart or graph. They address drawing conclusions based on the data trends and extrapolating beyond the given data set.

Science: Conflicting Viewpoints
Sessions:
Speed reading strategy to get the most points in your most tired state. We will work through several passages and look at strategies to maximize your points! Learn how to focus on key words in the passage and questions. Discern which questions have answers in the test and which ones require extra thought.
