Sessions:

In this micro-course, we’ll practice working through Critical Reading passage questions by anticipating possible responses to the questions and eliminating answer choices that don’t match our anticipations. To refine our elimination tactics, we’ll focus on finding out-of-scope answer choices.

Sessions:

In this micro-course, we’ll practice the divide and conquer strategy on Critical Reading double passages, employing the 2-track mind approach to reading each passage and the anticipation/elimination approach to answering questions applicable to each passage individually and questions applicable to the two passages together.

Advanced Question Strategy

Sessions:

In this micro-course, we will review the strategies tackling the double reading passages. We will also address the more common difficult passage-based reading question types, such as Infer/Imply, Roman Numerals, and LEAST/EXCEPT/NOT.

Sentence Completion Strategy

Sessions:

In this micro-course, students will hone their sentence completion strategy, first reviewing how to anticipate correct answers for sentence completions, then practicing process of elimination to get rid of wrong answer choices and determine the correct answers. This micro-course will cover both one-blank and two-blank sentence completions.

Decoding Advanced Sentence Completions

Sessions:

In this micro-course, students will tackle the more challenging sentence completion questions, including those two-blank sentences in which blanks can’t be isolated. We will also examine those sentence completions with more difficult vocabulary in the answer choices.

In this micro-course, we will review the basic concepts of arithmetic most commonly found on the SAT, exponent rules, and a brief ISME review of function problems, ratios, and percent change. In this micro-course, we’ll work through practice problems involving coordinates in one dimension (calculating distances on horizontal and vertical lines) and two dimensions (calculating length of diagonal lines, identifying missing coordinates, using coordinates to find area/ perimeter of basic geometric figures) and slopes (including parallel and perpendicular lines).

This micro-course will tackle some more challenging math problem-types (such as Functions with graphs, Multiple Functions, Absolute Value, Combination/Permutation, Probability) and review how students can use the two “non-math” approaches of Backsolving and Plug and Chug to maximize score potential, along with reviewing when it’s ok to skip a question.

During this micro-course, students will review the use of the “grammar ear” to find mistakes in verbs, adjectives, and adverbs. Students will practice anticipating correct answers for improving sentences, and eliminating correct answers when identifying sentence errors.

This micro-course will demonstrate how, with the write strategy, the essay can basically write itself. Students will review the I-B-C structure of an essay, what makes a perfect thesis, and how the Rule of Abraham Lincoln can be applied to any essay question.

In this micro-course, students will review the use of their “grammar ear” to find mistakes in pronoun number and case, and will practice drawing lines from the pronoun to the antecedent to hone this skill. Students will also briefly cover noun agreement.

In this micro-course, we’ll work on specific sentence structure error types: run-ons, fragments, lack of parallelism, and misplaced modifiers. The focus will be on Improving Sentences questions (which will require us to fix the errors), but we will also practice finding these errors in Identifying Sentence Errors.
